JJ & JE Family House — Hotel in Dar es-Salaam

I lived at JJ & JE Family House for more than a year. I have been to Dar es Salaam before. I am also a traveler. I believe my review should be a helpful for someone who wants to stay there. I cannot write my experience for a year, but in summary, it was my best trip. It is an experience you never forget. I arrived late night and found Mr. Baluze himself waiting for me at the airport. The place is very safe, clean with a beautiful garden, easy to find, close to the airport with a very friendly neighborhood. The family’s hospitality, honestly and generosity were beyond imagination. I cannot recall any single undesirable moment during my stay. I had to extend my visa three times and Mr. Baluze guided me to the right people with no charge. I saw other tourists who had also the same issue and he was there for them to. They are practicing christian family and made me experience one of the best ramadan i ever had. They rescheduled their working hours, food times for thirty days just to acommodate me. They woke up early to open the gate for me to go to the mosque.

If you are an open minded, family oriented person and would like to experience Tanzania’s hospitality, I strongly recommend you this place. I would advise you to stay at least a week and ask Mr. Baluze make a plan for you in Dar es Salaam and its neighborhoods, A lot to discover. Please don’t leave the place without eating their food. It’s so delicious. If you play soccer, there is a football field close to the family house managed by the neighborhood. They are training morning and evening. They are very friendly. They do not ask you anything, just play and enjoy the game. But for sure any material support (Pinnies, balls,..) will surely be appreciated.

My special thanks to Madam Baluze, a wonderful school teacher. Despite her busy schedule, we always get her greetings and ask if everything is going well. My thanks go to their wonderful kids and their workers who were very helpful to me. JJ & JE Family becomes a second family to me and with God will, if have a chance I will visit often. Absolutely amazing!!! what more can I say this is our first time to an african country. And Charles and his family have gone above and beyond to make sure that we have had the most wonderful experience ever! So much so that we decided to extend our visit and rent a little apartment. From the time we arrived at the airport they picked us up brought us home fed us great food and have treated us like family everyday since. JJ & JE Family House is an excellent resource for anyone visiting Tanzania. They are very knowledgeable a wealth of information on various topics regarding Tanzanian culture, history, arts food and languages. Our 5 year old daughter loved it so much! She got the opportunity to go to the local school next door and visit with the children there. She has also established a great friendship with little Michelle who speaks both English and Swahili perfectly. There are 2 doctors that live onsite both a male and a female, that made my wife even more comfortable. We absolutely love this family. They are now our family. They also provide guided tour's of historical sites or they show you some of the most beautiful beaches anyone has ever seen and you can just relax. I could go on and on. We ended in this Guesthouse after a mistake from the Taxi (on purpose? working with the guesthouse?) and what a deception...|It was late, nobody was speaking english and we had to deal with the owner over the phone who was trying to bullsh...... us that he was knowing the owner of the guesthouse we should be and now it was a favour that he will propose us an accommodation. We wanted to sleep in a private bedroom but apparently everything was full so we had to negotiate a bed in a dormitory that the guy wanted to invoice a price of the private. |He asked us how much we paid the Taxi and it was apparently to expensive but he charged us the same price the next morning (too tired to negotiate everything at midnight).|When you are reading comments, Breakfast is also included in the price. It was never proposed to us.|The room was not clean, wifi is not working in the room and we had some strange insect on bed sheets.|Conclusion: Avoid this place even if...
