Positives:||Location - Privacy / Secluded - nice clean empty beach to walk in mornings and evenings - although didn't manage to find any snorkelling possibility due to low tide rocks (limited activities options & Cliff walk was not possible due to a stray dog around the resort)||||Large resort but leading to feelings of not much security - in and outs are random||||Large bungalow style rooms and good AC / facilities in room (lots of sockets, kettle, small fridge, no power cuts, warm water in shower, massive beds) - all bungalows are sea view and no TV!||||Some "gems" in the staff which great you with a smile and make you feel welcome||||Monkey visits provided for fun distraction ||||Negatives:||Food - not good value for money, quality average (over oily, although announced grilled most were fried) and mis-charged bill - poor options (would recommend to have seasonal and local food than overpriced "western-catered" food) - feel "forced" to think upfront what to order for the next meal and what time. Fresh Juice was made fresh after asking "outside of menu" - thank you!||||Average housekeeping (no evening mosquito net preparation - up to you to manage!) and mixed attendance at the restaurants (order confusions)||||No phone in room to call reception (need multiple back-forth to...
Read moreWe paid 5000 tzs per person to enter the beach. Unfortunately the beach was very shallow, full of sharp rocks and we were bleeding within a few minutes of walking in the ocean. We walked quite some distance along the beach to find a suitable place to swim but could not. Thus we decided to swim in the pool.
Within a few minutes of being in the pool one of the associates asked us for our wristband. We told him we paid the lady at the front desk but she did not give us a wristband. He went to discuss with his colleagues and then told us we have to pay 5000 Tzs each to be able to swim in pool as there is a separate charge from the beach. We decided to leave as we did not want to pay additional money.
The swimming pool was unclean with visible debris. The change room facilities were poorly maintained, there was nowhere to hang clothes, the doors of change rooms did not lock and there were insects, spider webs and dust everywhere.
We spent quite some time getting to this beach from Dar so it was a very disappointing...
Read moreThe hard part about this hotel is the journey. The last mile is a dirt road, but the upside is that there is no traffic, no noise. The property is pretty isolated, but on an amazing beach. The rooms are separate bungalows. It is not luxury, with a few needed fixes that Ashray, the manager and his team are working on, but the attentive service and personalized meals made this trip worthwhile. The first few days we had the property to ourselves, except for a few zealous monkeys that would come around the pool and breakfast. We enjoyed the pool next to the beach and the serenity this place provided. Our only issue was the airport taxi driver who insisted on showing up although we canceled our return trip via Ashray. I would advise not catching any taxi from the airport since they colluded and printed a pricesheet showing quadruple the normal taxi prices. Thanks Ashray for dealing with this and for a wonderful,...
