If you've thought about staying in a rented camp while on safari, pick Kon Tiki! It's centrally located in Serengeti. The tents are lined up, and you eat at the central large tent. The tent accommodations are very comfortable. There is a large king size bed with mosquito netting canopy, a desk, two comfortable chairs, and fully electrified so you can recharge everything overnight. The attached bathroom features a sink area, toilet area and shower that uses solar heat. The water pressure varies from very nice to a strong trickle, and there was plenty of hot water. We were cautioned not to drink the water, but it's fine for showing and washing. We were given plenty of bottled water. At night you can hear many, many animals. I wish I could identify them all! Gazelles, rabbits, and even a hippo or two walk right into the camp area after dark. You need to be escorted by staff after dark. You just flash your (provided) flashlight at the cook tent, and someone is instantly there. The food is excellent. I especially liked the soups, but everything was good.
