We thoroughly enjoyed our 4 nights at Lahia. It is a little off the beaten path (on a bumpy road) but well worth the extra time. Upon arrival, after a long, long day driving and viewing game, we were welcomed by the camp host with complementary drinks, including adult style ones, and an array of snacks.
The view from the infinity pool is spectacular. The view from our tent, named Wingu, was also wonderful. There was always a nice breeze blowing through the area and we didn't get hot even in the afternoon. The tents have wonderfully designed openings for cooling.
The outdoor shower was marvelous. So much fun watching the giraffes, elephants, zebras, etc while showering.
The laundry service at $1US per piece was by far the best price we found during our safari. The clothes came back a little wrinkled, but no worries.
The breakfasts were served buffet style with made to order eggs if requested. We had a couple mornings where the power went out all throughout the camp (everything is powered from solar panels and batteries) and breakfast was slightly delayed or we were left to fin our way around the dining area in the dark. (Our room was missing its flashlight, but we used our cell phones so hakuna matata.)
Dinner was served family style at the table and included some sort of grilled meat each evening. Some of the meat was quite tough and overcooked for my liking, but all was tasty. The sides were local dishes which we thoroughly enjoyed each night.
Lunches were prepared from a table where you pick what you want and the server boxes it up for you to take on your game drive.
The included alcohol options included local beers and a few wines from South Africa. They also had a nice, but simple sparkling wine which I really liked after a day of riding around the Serengeti.
Massai men were the security guards and private escorts to and from the tents after dark.
We really hated to see our time end at Lahia and hope to be able to...
Read moreThis was one of the nicest lodges we stayed at during our safari trip. The rooms are beautiful, incredibly spacious, and had all the amenities you could possibly need. Outdoor rain shower, hair dryer, outdoor deck with a beautiful view, and very comfortable beds. The main lobby area is beautifully made, and a great place to have meals and relax. The staff are attentive and so hospitable - they tended to our vegan diet and made sure we had plenty of food options. The infinity pool looks incredible, though we didn't get a chance to actually use it. Our only regret was staying there for just one night - after arriving around sunset following a day long game drive and leaving early in the morning for another game drive, we just didn't get enough time to enjoy the lodge. Would recommend staying here for at least 2 nights so you can properly...
