Mawe Tented Camp — Hotel in Ikoma

Comfortable, clean tents. Good meals provided. Friendly staff. Nice view over plains. Location was good especially if one wanted to explore the eastern side of Seronera and Gol Koppies. Approximately 26km from Seronera. Lots of "cats" in the area in June as the grass is shot. Tent was spacious and showers hot. 3 course dinner was well presented and tasty. We ordered breakfast and lunch boxes - they were perfect. Delicious filter coffee served at sunrise. Staff attentive to clients safety and escorted us to our tents after dark. This was a wonderful stay and a fantastic safari! To start from the good parts: our driver (Sam) was very skilled and incredible, the food in this camp is stunning, the rooms are nice and the staff is welcoming.

What we did not like was the lack of transparency regarding the price: after booking a safari, they charge you 20% (on top of taxes) and this excludes the tips! The manager refused to elaborate on this charge or adjust it.

Additionally, a small note: most of the guests are arriving after a long drive. Offer them a bathroom before sitting them down for a lengthy discussion. :)

Simply wow! An extraordinary place – expensive, but definetely worth it. The atmosphere is amazing – you are surrounded by savannah grasslands wilderness and staying in luxurious tent. The lodge is located right in the Serengeti, so you’re incredibly close to the wildlife. The tents are very beautiful, spacious, and comfortable. The food was absolutely delicious – we enjoyed both the lunch prepared for the takeway at the park as well as breakfast and dinner served in the mess tent. As a bonus, the wine was excellent.
