We loved our stay at Mbuzi Mawe Serena Camp. We arrived late one evening and checked in by dusk. The staff are friendly and the manager is affable with a great sense of humour. We found the restaurant service to be intimate, personalised and warm. Our waitress was kind enough to proactively ensure extra care for my daughter who had a tender tummy. The grounds are the perfect blend of safe luxury and raw wilderness. We were escorted safely to and from our rooms. The grounds offer the opportunity for some excellent birding and the kopjes behind the camp offer the chance to sight klipspringers, small antelope that dwell among the rocks. The amazing Serengeti is right outside and we were excited to hear lions and hyenas in the night.

Staff was fantastic! We were supposed to arrive around 3 in the afternoon after a 7-8 hour drive, but after 2 break downs and hitching a ride with another company, we finally made it there at 1030pm. The staff had waited for us with a hot dinner and cool refreshments. Lovely after a 15.5 hour trip!! The tented lodge was wonderful and the location was amazing! We're watched the baboons as we ate breakfast. Great food, the tent was luxurious.... nothing basic about it!

Nov 2023 was our third trip (2017, 2019, and 2023) to Tanzania and to Mbuzi Mawe, so that should tell you something about how we feel about the service, accommodations and photographic opportunities. You cannot find the equal anywhere else on the planet! Trust me, I have lived in 3 countries, worked in 50 countries and this is the best you can hope for. Asante Sana to our friends at the Mbuzi Mawe!

When we arrived at Mbuzi Mawe, I felt like I had stepped onto a movie about a safari. Yes we stayed in “tents” but these are tents with real floors, real beds, hot water, and 24-hour electricity (and Wi-fi). At the same time this is very much the wild as when our escort came to take us to dinner he pointed out several African Buffalo less than 5 yards from the doors of our tents and we absolutely heard the lions at night. ||||Our dinner was excellent - be sure to try the Serengeti Balls (they are amazing chocolate cake balls) - and the local Tanzanian dish was highly flavorful. This was the only place on our safari where we were given the option of picking what we wanted for lunch the following day in some level of detail which was nice. ||||We had also arranged a brief walking safari. We were accompanied by a nature guide who provided us with an interesting orientation to the flora and fauna of the area and adapted our route when part of the path was blocked by buffalo. We were also joined by one of the park rangers too. The walk was not long or difficult and it was a nice chance for us to see things on foot instead of from a vehicle and is something I would recommend if you...

Our stay here was amazing from start to finish. The staff are so friendly and welcoming and food is amazing. We had Venus, Sirilhija and Mwanahamisi serving us and they were all so attentive- a real credit to the lodge. The chef, Memus, was also fantastic. He came to our table each day and explained the dishes that he was going to prepare and always checked to make sure everything was OK during the meal. There was so much food - you will not go hungry! They even had a birthday cake for me - a real treat. The service was so personal- from Esther in reception to security and all the 'behind the scenes' staff. It was real family atmosphere and great teamwork. The accommodation was superb and had everything you would need. Our safari rangers were fantastic. Elieda and Samora were so attentive. They made sure we maximised our game drives and we saw everything from impala, hippos, elephant, cheetahs and leopards to lions, lionesses and also their cubs. Thank you to everyone for making our stay...
