This camp was very disappointing from the reviews we'd seen and what our trip leader had experienced there 3 years ago when it was new. First the toilet wouldn't flush after one time until they fixed it. We were never told it was done. After taking a lukewarm shower in a rather precarious step up then step down into a small enamel basin area, it was impossible to stop the faucet from dripping. Nothing was done the first night, so we figured out to put 2 towels under the drip to cushion the constant noise. They did replace the handles the next day. It is NOT a safe place for anyone with mobility issues as there are many ledges and unmarked changes in the flooring in getting in the tent as well as within the main eating and lobby area. There needs to be tape marking the differences. There is NO lighting over the buffet dining, so you have to guess at what you are dipping morning and night. You might get lucky & they tell you very quickly mostly the African names of the dishes if they're not too busy with other things. We watched the camp manager and 3 to 4 other workers take selfies of a special dining area they'd set up by the bush fire for a honeymoon couple for about 20 minutes. Of course there were always pairs of workers standing around the lounge chatting with each other doing nothing. When I asked whether the wifi was working after sitting waiting for a site to load for 5 minutes, a worker looked over my shoulder briefly then went back to what she was doing and another told me it was working.... NOT. Our guide came along & asked about the wifi and was told it was running slow, when he asked if they could reboot the router, they actually did and it was better briefly. It wasn't ever reliable for our 2 night stay and you had to be in the main lobby tent to get anything. The workers didn't seem to care about the guests except when you arrived, left or if you had a birthday or special event they could sing to you for lengthy periods. Since I have been to the Serengeti 5 times, I am very aware that there are much better places to...
Read moreWe loved Moyo tented camp! We were greeted after a long day of safari by 6 staff singing to us on Swahili with a massive joy and welcome. The wonderful Mary leading the singing and later giving me some brilliant wine recommendations. The staff carried all our bags and we had an orientation chat and then we're shown to our luxury room in the heart of the Serengeti. Dinner was lovely with so much choice and we relaxed as the sun went down. We slept well in the comfy beds with the sounds of the animals all around, I kept waking up to listen because I was too excited and heard lions, hyena and hippo. We slept with the viewing flat open so I could spot animals but I didn't see anything, but we were treated to a wonderful sunrise. We also gave our washing in the previous day and it was hand washed and air dried and ready to go the next day for the good price of $1 per item, a much needed refresh of our safari clothes mid holiday. Wonderful place with great people and fab location,...
Read moreHow do I begin?! Moyo is a delight. It is alive, it is chic, well maintained, in the middle of the savannah with wonderful people who put its value first.|I stayed there on my birthday. They welcomed us warmly, we got tent no. 10, the last one, close to the bushes and we could feel the vibe of the savannah. That night we saved, at least for the moment, a baby antelope from the claws of a hyena. Somehow it hid under our tent, and the hyena, although it tried to catch it, failed. Buffaloes were roaming around the tent, chewing their cud unhindered. It was magical.|Also on the first evening I had the huge surprise of being... celebrated. Mary, one of the girls at the camp was the organizer of the party with specific music, cake and candles in an extraordinarily warm and happy atmosphere. And for that I thank them from the bottom of my heart. Memorable evening. And a huge surprise. I had no idea what they were up to. Thank you, my dears! You will always remain in my...
