It's difficult to find the words for how incredible our visit and stay at Serengeti Safari Camp was! We were excited to stay at a migration camp, and were thoroughly surprised and amazed to find everything beautiful and comfortable. The common area and dining room tents, along with your own tent, are lovely, sturdy, and filled with styled furnishings, china, and glassware. Our tent was very nice with fresh, soft linens and pillows, a firm king bed, lighting, desk and chair, and a porch with chairs, |We slept well and felt completely safe (apparently even sleeping through the lions and hyenas in the distance). I was concerned about the bucket shower - not to worry, this was plenty of hot water unless you're used to a 20 minute shower, and honestly a fun and novel experience! The chemical toilet was not an issue at all, and the food and drink, literally out on the savannah, was fantastic and very plentiful! Olias, the camp manager, gave us a "behind the scenes" tour, demonstrating for us how remarkably how hard this staff works to put the camp together and provide such personalized and professional service. We loved arriving back at camp, Zydee ready with drinks and a friendly smile, and enjoying treats by the "bush tv" (fire) with the staff and other guests. One day, upon our return to camp, I casually mentioned that my hat had gotten ripped, and Olias looked at it and found a staff member who capably sewed it back together! Thanks to our incomparable guide, Paul, we saw a huge number of animals, including a cheetah and leopard, so many lions!, and got to witness two live kills. Paul was very patient with our constant questions, we learned so much from him, and found him to be the best guide of our entire Africa trip. SSC was magical for us; a special place and staff, and they'll remain in our memories forever. Asante sana...
Read moreEverything from the second we arrived to the moment we left four nights later was absolutely perfect. Olais (camp manager) and his team gave us the warmest welcome and were always there for our every need.
The room was very cleverly laid out and extremely comfortable, especially given the eco-friendly and mobile setup. The hot water bottle in bed at night was a very nice touch, as were the welcoming drinks. The shower system added to the charm of the overall experience and worked perfectly - one bucket was enough for my wife and me. Other usual facilities (power, internet) all worked well. The best part was the proximity to nature: whether during the day with grazing zebras in the far, or at night when animals come closer, there is a unique peacefulness and sense of serenity that makes SSC truly special.
Food was spectacular, from morning to evening. We always had more than enough with fresh fruits, juices and hot drinks throughout the day, in addition to great meals on the grounds and during our excursions. We wanted to praise the amazing service quality provided by Goodluck, Saitoti, Benson and Travaili. They were extremely helpful and shared a lot of their background and love for nature with us, which made our stay even better.
The daily safaris (one in the morning and a shorter one in the afternoon) were sublime, given the location of the camp. Edi went above and beyond to ensure we would see as much as possible, whilst listening to our preferences and making sure we always had everything we needed.
Everyone at SSC made it look easy, in spite of the logistical challenges that a mobile camp certainly poses. We couldn't have been any happier and hope to be able to go back one day. They gave us memories...
Read moreThis was a spectacular experience. The tent accommodations are luxurious. It is a mobile tent camp, not connected to any power grid, so keep that in mind. There are lights in your tent, and there is adequate power to charge your laptop in the common area (but not in your tent). Bathroom facilities are the same as at home in the USA. Shower requires at least brief advance notice so they can heat water for you. The tent we stayed in, and the common area, were luxurious. Staff was incredibly eager to help in any way, and food was great.||However, we came to see the wildlife and that was the truly spectacular part of our experience. We spent 2 full days and 2 half days in a Toyoto safari vehicle with our driver/ guide, Pay (pronounced "Pie"). He really made the trip for us. He was great at taking us to the right places to see the things we wanted to see. He was honest about what was likely and what was unlikely (no, we didn't see Rhino). He was unbelievably knowledgeable about the Serengeti, the different species, their behaviors, mating habits, legends, etc. Plus he was just a fun guy. This was a short trip (2 full days and 2 half days) but we saw every species we could reasonably expect to see, and several more on top of that. We got quite close to lions on multiple occasions, and leopards twice. We saw a small Wildebeest crossing (it was too late in the season for a major crossing). The whole experience vastly exceeded our expectations. Nothing but good things to say.||I guess if I were to carp the mattresses and pillows could have been a bit firmer. ||We would go again, or recommend to friends, in...
