Had a great time at this lodge. Enjoying an impromptu sundowner by the infinity pool overlooking the vast plains ahead, often with wildlife in sight (families of buffalo were always visible during our stay), and complimentary happy hour service before dinner was always a delight. The sunset is quite grand as the pool and open air lounge face west, so you can watch the sun slip below view with a cocktail in hand poolside. The mosquitos can be quite aggressive so be sure to spray or lather on some repellent beforehand.
The individuals camps, or rooms, all had WiFi in them, unlike the other safari lodges we stayed at (only WiFi in common areas, barely working in the room). The pathways to all the rooms were also always lit, unlike the other places we stayed at where we had to tread in the dark at night.
Food and service were great. One night we had chefs preparing meals at a station right at the dinner area so we could customize what we wanted. The other nights it was prepared food, but we had the flexibility to customize as the meals came in many small dishes. It was here that we got introduced to Tanzanian gin.
We dined al fresco during our entire time here, and being in the middle of Serengeti, were lucky to see wildlife. One night just after dusk I saw a serval cat walking across the grass right in front of our dinner table, and it was truly a delight as they’re hard to spot during the day on safaris, given their nocturnal behavior and smaller size that hides easily by grass. That was our only sighting of the animal in our 2 weeks in Tanzania.
The real highlight, though, was watching the Great Migration happen right from our room, even straight from the bed, thanks to the glass panel doors that face the plains. We saw maybe tens or maybe hundreds of thousands of wildebeests, with zebras and gazelles mixed in, marching across the plains, in the distance, from the comfort of our room. We also saw two giraffes right from our veranda, in the nearer distance. There’s a family of 3 dik diks that live right by our room, whom we saw every day. We could see them graze, frolic, and live unfettered in their natural habitat so close to us....

We were able to spend 4 nights at Nyota on our Tanzania safari and really enjoyed our game drives in the Serengeti. The location is in the central Serengeti and from there you can explore so many different parts of the Serengeti without having to drive out of the park in the evening. The location is slightly elevated on a hill next to a river. We were lucky enough to have the Great Migration of wildebeest and zebra around the camp just then. (mid June) Fortunately, we saw the three species of cats of prey and our personal highlight was the one-week-old lion cubs. Of course the tree-climbing lions are also unique and you have a good chance of seeing some here This is a unique experience and we really enjoyed the fact that the camp is in the wilderness and you often see wild animals passing by in the evening.
We felt safe at all times and we were always accompanied by a staff member or Maasai warrior to the tent or the main building.
The tent accommodation is very well equipped with indoor and outdoor showers, comfortable lounge furniture inside and outside and a very comfortable bed. We immediately felt at home.
The food was always very good and the staff were more than accommodating and very friendly. Thank you very much again.
We are very happy to recommend Nyota Luxury Camp because, in our opinion, you are so warmly welcomed there and find a second home in the Serengeti!
Best regards from Switzerland...
Read moreThis was probably our favorite hotel during our trip to Tanzania. The setting was beautiful and the accommodations were excellent and well maintained. To be surrounded fully by wildlife while in the Serengeti was an unforgettable experience. The food that was served here was some of the best we had in Tanzania. From the sumptuous breakfasts which included the chef being able to make eggs any way you liked to an excellent variety of dishes for lunches and dinner - the food was something all of us enjoyed. However what makes this place truly outstanding is the staff that work here. All of the workers were so helpful from the time our drivers arrived to the time we left. They quickly learned all our kids names (which is not easy to do when we had ten kids traveling with us). We were especially thankful for one of the servers - Arafah who took such good care of our younger girls and made them feel so welcome. The kids loved it when they performed a special song for all us on the night before we left the camp - they are still singing that song a month after we got back to the US! We got to see plenty of wildlife from the camp including at least two nights when the lions were outside hunting prey - nothing quite as thrilling as hearing them roar at night but we always felt safe know that Maasai escorts were always around in case we needed to go between tents. Truly an exceptional place to stay while in...
