We just stayed here for part of our Honeymoon adventure in Tanzania, about a week ago.||Hard to describe the experience fully, but it feels like something out of a movie.||You've just ended a day of driving through the plains and hills of the Serengeti, taking snapshots of some of the most famous exotic animals on Earth as they migrate in their untold thousands across the landscape - and just soaking in the atmosphere. You've started to wind down somewhat and your driver is looking up directions to the camp you'll be staying at - because, as it turns out, they actually change locations every few years.||You drive in to camp shortly after sunset and expect to find maybe large tents or a small pagoda or two at the most; but what greets you first is a group of friendly people by a fireplace, playing music and doing a little dance just to welcome you into camp. Your things are taken care of, you're seated by the fire and you're given all the info you need on the camp - which has a whole central dining hall, bar and lounge for you to enjoy meals at (complete with a porch to watch the sun set with a cold beer in hand), along with all the individual tents for guests to rest in.||We were walked to our accommodations by Adam, a friendly dude who gave us a walkie talkie and insisted we call him on it if we needed anything at all - and who showed us our massive room, the most glamorous tent I've ever laid eyes on. Huge, comfortable king-size poster bed, closets and drawers for clothes and belongings, a couch and a desk for writing at, and a fully functional (separate) bathroom with a warm shower and a large mirror. Couldn't believe this was a camp we were staying at, in the middle of the Serengeti.||A fact of which we were reminded by (a) lions growling in the night, which we could hear from our tents, (b) Zebras, Elephants and Hartebeests walking not 30 feet from the entrance path, and (c) all the amazing sounds and smells of Africa.||At night, you are free to walk to/from the dining tent, but you'll be guided by a staff member - because again, this is a national park with wild animals. Flashlights and caution are a must. We never once felt unsafe though, the care you're under is top-notch.||Surprisingly, despite being a literal camp with reduced facilities compared to a brick and mortar lodge/hotel, the food is excellent - typical buffet style as mosts places in Tanzania, with lots of options for breakfast and dinner; lunch is almost always a boxed option that you'll take with you as you continue exploring the Serengeti on your tour.||We had a lot of highlights on our trip, but this camp was easily one of the best places we had the pleasure of staying at. I'd return in a heartbeat and will cherish the few days and nights I got to spend here with my wife.||Asante sana, and kwaheri! I hope very much to come...
Read moreI recently stayed at Osinon, which boasts an excellent location but unfortunately falls short in several key areas, including the quality of the tents and food.
The location is undoubtedly the highlight of this campsite. Nestled in the heart of breathtaking natural scenery, it offers stunning views and easy access to Serengeti National Park and other outdoor activities.
However, the positives end there. The tent provided was in poor condition. Despite the website's assurance of 24-hour hot water, there was none available in our tent. This was particularly disappointing after a long day of game driving, as a hot shower would have been much appreciated. Finally, the staff discovered our tent pumps were stuck, which was apparently the reason for the lack of hot water so they gave us 2 buckets of hot water.
The food was another major letdown. Upon arrival, we were asked about any allergies or dietary restrictions, which we clearly communicated. Unfortunately, this information was completely ignored. Our dinner contained ingredients that we specifically stated we could not eat. This lack of attention to our dietary needs not only showed poor service but also posed a serious health risk.
While the staff were friendly and the location was exceptional, these positive aspects were overshadowed by the fundamental issues with the tent and food. Basic amenities like hot water and adherence to dietary restrictions are essential for a comfortable...
Read moreWe stayed at the Osinon Camp for 2 nights while in South Serengeti while on our 12 day safari. All in all on our safari we stayed at 7 different lodges and this was the one we rated as the highest with the staff as the best. While the lodge itself is very good, it is really the staff that made our experience the best ever. The staff take it from a 80% rating to a 100% rating. We arrived with the staff singing "Hakuna Matata" and it was so nice. ALL of the staff were very welcoming and very kind and caring. From the initial welcome to the check-in procedure to settling in the tent to the dining experience to the bush TV to our checkout - everything was top notch. The staff work together as a team and really seem to genuinely care about their guests. The food is prepared excellently and the choices for food are excellent. The service is excellent. The tents are decorated beautifully and comfortably and spotless. We can't say enough good about this team. I felt like coming to stay there for a few days just to relax and take in the beautiful surroundings. They were so kind, it felt sad to leave. Thank you for such a wonderful experience. To our new African friends including Steve, Adam, Salus, Walter, Wilson and the others, "Asante Asa". I know I have missed a few names but while I may have forgotten all your names, I never will forget how you made us feel...
