After an exhausting 18-hour journey from Dar, we finally arrived at the Lodge late in the evening. We drove straight up the ramp to the entrance, where the Manager, Sunith, warmly greeted us. The staff promptly took our luggage to our rooms, and Sunith provided us with all the necessary details about breakfast, dinner, and the importance of walking with security due to the occasional presence of animals.
We were escorted to our cottage and despite our fatigue, we couldn't help but admire it. It was clean, tidy, and equipped with modern amenities such as a western-style toilet, hot water shower, and bottled drinking water. Security personnel escorted us between the main building and cottages in case of any run-ins with animals that may decide to pay a visit. We even spotted Elephants in the distance, Hyenas near the cottage and building, and a little Tortoise navigating across the path.
Sunith and the entire staff went above and beyond to accommodate our Vegetarian diet over the next couple of days - providing us with delicious breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food was good (don't expect 5-star dining in the middle of the jungle, but do expect a unique and a thousandfold more enjoyable experience to go with it).
We also had the pleasure of enjoying the swimming pool with its tremendous view when we returned early from our game drive.
I'd like to thank Sunith and the Staff - the Chefs, Attendants, Security, and those working behind the scenes to ensure everything ran smoothly (plumbing, maintenance, etc.). Managing such an operation in the middle of the jungle is no small feat, and they did an excellent job.
I'm glad that Happy Moments Tours arranged this Lodge for us.
I'd love to visit the Lodge again, and wish them...
Read moreMy husband and I had a major issue with our travel agency because we discovered when we arrived in Kenya that they changed 4 out of 10 accommodations without notifying us. We were supposed to stay at the Serengeti Mara River Camp and instead were changed to the Ark. First of all, it was located far away from the game drive areas and up a bumpy hill. When we arrived, they greeted us with a typical ceremony and we were escorted to our room which was unbearably hot even though it was winter. The ceiling fan wasn't working and the mini split AC remote only had directions in Japanese. When we returned to the dining area, we were confronted by extremely bright lights as if we were on a stage. The staff were friendly and attentive but ill prepared and without any training. We were informed that there were only 2 red wine choices, red and sweet red. Thankfully by the 2nd night, the ceiling fan was fixed and they arranged for us to have a "bush dinner" with a great view to finally celebrate our anniversary in a proper manner. However, there bar was sparse and the server did not know how to pour wine so it ended up on our lap. She was very apologetic and I showed her how to pour which she was able to quickly learn. The other major issue was that the dining and lobby area had a camouflaged step where I tripped twice in 2 days and thankfully, did not injure my knees. The staff again were apologetic and I was offered a free 30 minute massage which I gratefully accepted and enjoyed by a skillful young woman. For location, ambience, bar inventory, and staff training, it was substandard. For effort, it was great but not even approaching a 4...

We stayed three nights at Serengeti Safari Lodge in January 2022. Our days were full of safari from morning to evening, in between we rested at this fantastic lodge. Wonderful surroundings, the animals close by in a lush valley. Rooms very nice, clean and tidy, big comfortable beds, great views from the balcony. Private toilet, shower and bath overlooking the valley, towels, soap and shampoo are available. Swimming pool, wifi (good in the main building, slower in the room) . In the room safty box and a bottle of water a day per person. Roomservice and escort from and to the room in the evening in the dark, when the buffaloes and maybe other animals were close by. Wonderful staff, no one mentioned and no one forgotten, all with a smile, took good care of us and made our stay unforgettable.
Our package included full board (not drinks for dinner), all food that was served tasted good and was well cooked. The safari included water and a lunch box. Tip: bring biscuits / fruit or similar, there is no shop, nothing to buy and on a full day in a safaricar it can be good with some snacks. Payment at check-out, we paid with Mastercar / Visa but they also take cash. Remember to have cash for tips (tips are left in the tip box at the bar).
Thank you all att SSL for a great stay! Greetings Liza &...
