One of the coolest places we’ve ever stayed! From arrival to departure, I don’t know if I’ve ever experienced a warmer, more friendly staff! We were met with welcome drinks and snacks while we checked in and then we were shown our tent. We are a family of 4 (2 adults, 2 kids) and our tent was luxurious! The tents are raised up on platforms and have beautiful wooden floors throughout. The kids each had a single bed and their own bathroom, while the adults had an attached but private room with a king bed and our own bathroom. Beds all had mosquito nets and there was plenty of mineral water for brushing teeth and drinking. There was strong wifi in the tent (which is impressive for being miles away from civilization!) and you could charge all your devices right next to your bed. The food was incredible - we had dinner, breakfast and a box lunch here. Each course is brought out with a silver cover and they teach you how to count to three before you open it together which we thought was fun! Breakfast was a buffet but you could also get eggs and pancakes. For the box lunch we customized what we each wanted and it was all delicious! I feel like every detail was considered at this camp and we so enjoyed our time there. We sat out at the fire after dinner looking at the stars and it was incredible. After dark, we were escorted to our tent by security holding a spear! (All we saw was a dik dik). Overnight you can hear so many animal sounds - it’s indescribable! When we woke up and walked to breakfast we saw animal prints left from the night before - so cool! When we left the whole staff walked us to the car to say goodbye. What an unforgettable experience we had here. Easily my favorite place we stayed during our week...

We stayed at 9 lodgings on our 15-night safari trip. Almost all of these lodgings had five-star Travel's Choice Awards. Yet this was our favorite. Five stars for everything.||Location: In the middle of the Serengeti about 40 minutes from the Seronera airport. Nestled at the base of a foothill to the east, the tents face west catching spectacular sunsets across the plain before it. Romantic and rustic.||Tent Cabins: Luxury level. Incredibly comfortable beds and bedding. Large indoor area with a small porch overlooking the Serengeti plain. Tasteful furnishings throughout.||Service: The staff welcomes you with fresh towels and drinks and provides a welcome video presentation upon your initial arrival. When you leave, they serenade you to your car for a final send-off. The tents are immaculately maintained, the food service is outstanding, and security staff are extremely helpful. I asked the owner about this extraordinary service, and he indicated that his staff selection is paramount and a priority. It shows. He does a great job selecting and maintaining staff.||Food: We had three dinners here. The remarks I heard from other guests were consistent with our thoughts - the food was outstanding. Here we were in the middle of the Serengeti and the dinners could have been out of the some of the best restaurants in New York City.||We thought that the Serengeti would be the highlight of our trip. It was and this lodging certainly was icing...

One of the Best Stays We've Ever Had – Anywhere in the World

Our stay at Sound of Silence was truly unforgettable – without a doubt one of our best experiences in Tanzania, and maybe even of all our travels around the world. The Dutch owner, Jan, has created something truly special here. His story about how the camp came to life is inspiring and adds a personal touch to the whole experience.

The setting is absolutely magical. We saw buffalo up close from our terrace, were surrounded by gazelles and dik-diks, and even spotted wildebeest nearby. It's as if you're living in the middle of a nature documentary.

The food was exceptional – some of the best we've had on safari. The pre-meal number system felt a bit odd at first, but in the end, it just adds to the unique experience of the camp.

The staff are outstanding – warm, attentive, and always willing to help. A special thank you to our night guard, Elias, who made us feel very safe and well cared for.

The breakfast boxes were great for early mornings, and if we could suggest one improvement, it would be the addition of a swimming pool – though we completely understand that this might not be allowed within the park boundaries.

Warm greetings from your Flemish guests – we hope to...

5 stars to our friend Solomon!! An important member of the SOS team who ensured we got back to our tent safely every night. He stopped to chat with us lots about his culture and Serengeti! But 5 stars as well to this entire lovely lodge and all of the staff - especially.. Solomon Esther Irene Elias Laura Rehema Innocent Martin The rooms have an incredible view overlooking a bit of the Serengeti and it is definitely luxury! We enjoyed the food but found drinks to be quite costly (which seems to be a standard for the luxury resorts for tourists). We especially liked the song when we left by those mentioned above, as well as the welcome everytime we returned with a cold towel to get rid of the Serengeti dust! Thank you!
