We had the pleasure of staying at Zawadi Tented Camp in the Serengeti during our recent safari, spending two nights at different times throughout our trip. The experience was truly unique, offering an authentic taste of the wild with a touch of comfort.
Our first night was spent in the Family Tent, which was absolutely amazing. The tent was spacious, with a wooden floor that added a nice touch of luxury. It comfortably accommodated our family of four, and we appreciated having the extra space to unwind after a day of exploring. The amenities were excellent, making it feel more like a cozy lodge than a tent in the middle of the Serengeti.
On our second night, we stayed in two regular tents, which had no wooden floors. While these tents were less comfortable compared to the Family Tent, the experience was still great overall. Being so close to nature is what makes Zawadi Tented Camp special, and we embraced the rustic charm of these tents.
One of the highlights of our stay was the incredible wildlife all around us. We were lucky enough to see a lioness enjoying her breakfast just outside our tent and even watched the Great Migration from our tent chairs—a truly unforgettable experience.
The food at Zawadi Tented Camp was good, especially considering its remote location in the heart of the Serengeti. The staff at the camp were nothing short of amazing—warm, welcoming, and always ready to assist with a smile. Special thanks to Peter, Ramadan, and Jackson, who made our stay even more memorable with their exceptional service and genuine hospitality.
We will definitely be returning to Zawadi Tented Camp and highly recommend it to anyone looking for an authentic Serengeti experience. The combination of wildlife, comfort, and outstanding staff made our stay...

Zawadi Serengeti Camp is a genuine gem tucked just outside the bustling Seronera area—offering peace and immersion in the Serengeti without sacrificing convenience. Located in the Kemarishe Hills, about 20 km north of Seronera and merely a short drive ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Zawadi Serengeti Camp was one of the absolute highlights of our safari. The location is perfect – close enough to Seronera to reach the main areas easily, but far enough away from the busy center to feel wonderfully quiet and exclusive. It really gives you the best of both worlds.
The camp itself is small and intimate, with just a handful of tents, which makes the atmosphere very personal and relaxed. You never feel like a tourist among crowds – instead, it feels like being welcomed into a little family in the middle of the Serengeti.
The tents are true “glamping” – spacious, beautifully furnished, with hot showers and everything you need, yet still with that special feeling of being close to nature. Sitting on the veranda and watching wildlife pass by was magical.
The staff deserve special praise. They are incredibly warm, attentive, and genuinely care about making your stay unforgettable. And then there is Chef Baraka – every meal he prepared was outstanding, with a real personal touch. Even as vegetarians we were spoiled with creative and delicious dishes, some of the best food we had in Tanzania.
Evenings by the campfire, listening to the sounds of lions and hyenas in the distance, were moments we will never forget. Zawadi is intimate, authentic, and full of heart – we can’t recommend it...
Read moreWe had a fantastic stay at Zawadi Camp. The camp is intimate with only seven tents (which we loved) and has gorgeous views all round.
The rooms are spacious, comfortable and tastefully done. We also had really delicious food during our stay and the staff really went above and beyond to ensure we had a good stay
The camp is also well located, ideal for exploring the Serengeti. We also loved the personal touch of the outdoor bush dinner put on during the second night of our stay.
The only slight issue which does need addressing is the lack of hot water for a hot shower. Despite best efforts from staff to fill up the hot water each time we showered, we only ever had lukewarm water.
It is also worth noting that high voltage appliances like hairdryers can only be used at reception and not in tented rooms. This didn’t impact our stay but is helpful to know.
Overall we had a lovely stay and would certainly recommend...
