I visited this hostel with my friend and was disappointed to say the least. We booked a private room. We were welcomed in a very passive way. The private room was promised to have many amenities (such as Netflix, BBQ coffee maker etc.), but it only had simple beds in it. The atmosphere was uncanny and made us feel uncomfortable. It seems many locals also live in the hostel. It feels like visiting a student home as the newest member where you lowest in the hierarchy. Breakfast was nothing more than some dry sandwiches and a very big jar of peanut butter (very appealing...). During breakfast I was asked for a private donation to the housekeeper, allegedly for her and her child. If it is needed I am very sorry, but it is not what you want to be bothered with as a guest. The toilet and shower smelled of sewer and were shared. The guard was rude and just looked nasty at us unresponsive to our greetings. He continued watching his TikTok reel, unbothered. The bar is simply used by the locals who like to play pool, drink beers and watch football. All very fun, but they are not very welcoming to the guests. All this for a price twice as much as - the better alternative - Neema Crafts, which also serves delicious avocado breakfast for TZS 55.000 double room. Together with a location isolated from the centre and difficult to find it all just does not add up. I was surprised to see a 9.1 on Booking.com and a 4.9 on Google Reviews. My recommendation is to pick...
Read moreThis is my second time bringing a group of university students to stay at Hidden Valley Backpackers, and we will continue to return for as long as they will have us! The accommodations are great, the food is delicious, the prices are more than reasonable, and the overall atmosphere is phenomenal. There are so many places to gather with friends - and to make new friends - and there’s ample space if you’re craving solitude. The outdoor spaces have gorgeous views and the bar that’s off the main lodge is a great spot to hang out and play pool, sit by the fire, and fellowship with friends. It’s walkable to much of Iringa Town and also an easy bajaj or taxi ride to wherever you need to go. Whether you’re passing through, visiting for the evening, or need a place to stay for a while, Hidden Valley is a gem! Thank you to Jerry, Erick and the rest of the crew for making us feel at home! We miss you...
Read moreVery nice and relaxing backpacker. The owners and the staff are all very welcoming! The dorm room (30'000 pppn) was clean, mosquito nets are available, enough space to unpack a bit. Lots of chilling areas inside and outside. Kitchen can be used too. The bar is also nice, a bit downward from the rooms, so no problem from the music. Breakfast is good, there is some good coffee and tea. Nice and calm quarter, 25min from town center by foot. Cute little puppies to cuddle at the backpacker for the moment :) The google map location is right, the entry door is not to miss with a huge nice gorilla painted on it. I planned to stay 3 days, I stayed a week! I highly recommend that place, it feels like home very...
