My wife and I were looking to do something special for our 10th wedding anniversary and, after a lot of research, decided on Ikuka, We had a vague idea of what to expect, but it was far above and beyond our wildest expectations.
Firstly the hosts, Chevy and Tommy, are incredible people. It felt like meeting up with old friends during our stay. Enough also can not be said about everybody else in the Ikuka family. They genuinely can not do enough for you.
The guides, are so knowledgeable, respectful and personable and the waiters certainly know how to mix up a great cocktail, or two, which is certainly handy. A very special thank you to you all for the most amazing experience.
We cannot recommend the walking safari enough. To be able to feel the ground under your feet in this environment, is truly special. Try the balloon ride if you have time, its magical.
The accommodation, what can we say but, wow. It is so in keeping with the environment and landscape, it has to be seen to be believed. The photographs you will see of this place just don't do it justice.
The level of food is out of this world, and plenty of it too. I don't know how they do it.
Then there is the small matter of the unbelievable wildlife, including the small 5. To be able to witness all of this, without the crowds of other people and vehicles, felt like what I can only presume to be, an old school safari.
Overall, we looked for somewhere special and we certainly found it.
My wife, upon arrival and after soaking up the first view of the landscape, had tears in her eyes, as well as when we departed. After 5 nights we honestly did not want to leave. This place will truly stay in our hearts and minds forever.
We are so glad we decided on Ikuka, again, thank you to you all for making the most wonderful memories.
If you get the chance, just do it, life is too short. You...
Read moreMy husband and I visited Ikuka mid October. My third safari, his first. We were both completely blown away by the experience. Luxury, but in an understated way, coupled with personal care and attention to detail that is increasingly rare.
The camp is situated on the hill overlooking the plains and towards the mountains. We had the sunset vista. The pool and dining area enjoys the same views.
Throughout our stay we enjoyed the most thoughtful, caring customer service - lots of little details that elevated the specialness to another level. The food was absolutely delicious, we enjoyed everything we were served…eating way more than we would normally! Breakfasts, within the park, were especially enjoyable.
We were particularly thrilled about our guiding experience. Geoffrey was simply outstanding. His knowledge, enthusiasm and persistence was truly above and beyond. We were lucky enough to see three cheetah (mum and her two cubs) as a result of Geoffrey locating their tracks and his instincts in order to locate them. Having spent the previous day searching and finding a leopard (and then watching it for a couple of hours as it went up and down trees) we felt really blessed. Geoffrey patiently and enthusiastically explained to us what the many animals, birds and flora were, happily stopping to point out things we had shown an interest in. His willingness to show us the different terrains within the park was much appreciated as we left feeling we’d really experienced a bit of the ‘real’ Africa.
Our memories of our trip will remain with us forever - yes, it really was that great.
Thanks very much to every single person who contributed...
Read moreIkuka is truly one of the most wonderful experiences I will ever have.
This safari camp has it all. An amazing location in which the views across the savanna are breathtaking and there are megafauna all around. Luxury rooms which are perfect for relaxing after a long day in the bush and really really good food which is something I definitely didn’t expect being so deep in nature. However the thing that made this camp truly special was everyone working there. They all made you feel so welcome and were so nice and helpful! Special credit must be given to our guide Festo who is honestly, excuse my youthful language, the GOAT with all his information and care for us.
Of course it’s the beautiful national park and all the flora and fauna that live there from lions and leopards to fishing eagles and hornbills that make the safari here so good. However the way Ikuka elevated that experience was simply awesome (I’m starting to run out of positive adjectives )
Anyway any reader if you’ve ever wanted to experience safari you should definitely come here. Or if you’ve already done it still come here cause it is the best!
(There’s much more than this leopard but I don’t like spamming pictures and videos so...
