Key Stop Before the Summit – Barafu Camp
We didn’t overnight at Barafu Camp, but stopped here for a lunch break during our Kilimanjaro climb. It’s the final major camp before the summit push, and many climbers start their midnight ascent from here.

Read moreListen to your body, always. I was about to leave at 10:30 at night, had a cough for two days and it became worse.
I chose not to summit, and that was the best decision. I was evacuated and taken to St. Joseph's Hospital. I was on the cusp on having high altitude sickness turn into pulmonary edema.
Great time though. And again, listen to your body. I wanted to summit, but my body knew better.
