Read moreThe resort is clean and a good base, room reasonable food OK. drinks expensive 8$ for a gin without tonic but beer is 3$ a bottle. Boot cleaning and laundry service also available. WiFi only available in bar and sporadic, chase the staff to turn it on. Currency exchange the same as bank. The receptionist is rude and Unhelpful. on arrival you have to complete hotel registration and that is all she cares about, no porters to carry luggage unless you ask and no Information on hotel unless you ask. It’s over a two hour dusty journey to get to hotel from airport the receptionist makes everything seem longer and you get a sense of being unwelcome to the hotel. There is a bar and small swimming pool. We were a group and none of us got the correct bill so do keep an eye on what you order at the bar and restaurant, some of us were under charged others over charged. Waiting staff seem keen but get orders wrong If buying beers for guides do check they get them. restaurant staff keen to tidy up but lean cross you and whip away your utensils when still using but at least they are trying. It feels like they don’t have much knowledge of English as they just wave or shrug if you ask a question. The gift shop is dire and not worth the effort of a browse, empty shelves abound. We returned after our hike to stay another night, there is no reconition or warm welcome back registration cards presented with a sour face. This hotel has potential but seems to be gripped in a...
Read moreIntrepid Travel uses this hotel as their base to check in clients. It has a beautiful backdrop and distant view of Mt Kilimanjaro. Staff are relaxed but accommodating. Their spag bolognese is a huge serve and yummy for hungry tummies. Buffet breakfast is great with the local bread - chapati. Fresh local juice. Lots of avocadoes. Humidity is high so expect some dampness in the rooms. The shower is a 'hit and miss'. When we arrived the room we got had a shower which hissed boiling hot water and ice cold water, but on our return from the trek, the room we got had a hot shower which was heavenly. The hotel has a feel of the colonial days - wide corridors and staircase. We saw a pair of hornbills just outside our room making a racket. There is a resident tortoise for you to search and find. Do not expect 'snap to attention' service but a homely relaxed atmosphere. Free wifi only at the Kili Bar area. You can buy data if you wish but why not relax with a book by the poolside. Adopt a Hakuna Matata disposition. You can also arrange local guides - John and Safari to take you to the nearby Chagga Caves (not to be missed) and learn about the tribe's history while supporting local tourism. We spent 3 days at Kili Mountain Resort and have little to...
