We have just completed our stay at Selous wilderness camp and wow, what an experience! Exceeded all our expectations! ||We arrived early morning and went Straight out onto Jeep safari! Amazing to see the beautiful animals so close up - List is endless but giraffes, hippos, elephants, crocodiles, zebras, wilder beast, buffalo, warthog, kudo, mongoose, baboon.. Our guide, Samuel was super knowledgeable and we learned so much! |Then at the end of the day we were escorted by boat to an island which is very private and secluded with a beautiful pool. Our honeymoon suite/tent is great and was decorated beautifully. You can hear the hippos, very close outside! All the staff here are so friendly and super attentive. They lit a fire for us in the evening with a candle lit dinner which was just perfect after a long day.|Next morning we went on a walking safari with DD, a real character from the village who practices in medicine at the local hospital. Learned so much about the forest and all the healing properties of plants and the amazing eco system! Few chilled hours at the pool before boat safari for sunset where we got real close to the hippos and then taken to a beautiful spot where they set out a table for a snack and a beer before heading back to the camp for dinner.||This is serenity at its finest....
Read moreWe had the most wonderful time here. |Our adventure began from the moment we arrived at the airstrip when we set off on a virtually full day drive with a picnic lunch, seeing a huge variety of birds and animals on day one.||We were welcomed into the camp by (Mr) Sifuni who looked after us exceptionally well throughout our stay. |The tent was spacious and immaculately clean and comfortable. The food, both in camp and picnics, was fresh, tasty and the restaurant setting, especially by the fire pit was lovely.|The pool was gorgeous, small but very refreshing after a dusty trip. The sunset cruise was an unforgettable highlight.||All of the staff were friendly and professional but our guide, Kenneth, was outstanding. His knowledge and empathy for his environment was remarkable and he planned things to reflect our interests in a very sensitive way. We thoroughly enjoyed his company and the camp owners should consider themselves very lucky to have him as part of their team.||If you’re after glam and glitz, this one’s not for you, but for a truly wild experience without crowds of other tourists Selous Wilderness ticks all the boxes and we would happily return should circumstances...

What an amazing experience.|We spent three days here as part of our honeymoon, the team at the camp are just fantastic they look after you from the second you step off the plane . The food is fabulous. |Kenneth took us out on two day safaris , ensuring we had the best opportunities to see as much wildlife as possible. His knowledge and understanding of the behaviours of the animals was just astounding. |We visited a Masai village and were shown around by the villagers, we even attempted a Masai dance ! |The last evening we were taken on a boat safari again Kenneth knowledge of the animals and flora was outstanding. The boat safari culminated with a sunset drink on the sandbank once the local crocodiles and hippos had left ! The sunset was absolutely stunning.
