If this is "tent camping" sign me up! Amazing location for venturing forth, with a wonderful layout of the lodges that allowed expansive views from the deck and maximal privacy (it is a tent, so keep your voice down if you are griping about your neighbor and keep the earplugs handy in case the gripe is about snoring!). The reception/dining/bar area is just wonderful with an another expansive view of the sunset next to the fire pit. The padded cushions on the rock ledge for "Miller Time" - actually "Tusker time" were just grand! Decent bar selections and the food preparation was very nice - plentiful and tasty. ||The staff impressed immediately with a warm welcome, efficient luggage to the room and attention to every detail, including lighting your way to your tent after dark...just in case the hyrax that occupy every little rock niche decide to riot! Or maybe a lion -- their roar could be heard at night.||Rooms are large, beds comfortable, the bath area offers all the comforts of home.||||Our ONLY complaint is that the credit card machine was out of service -- we were told by our tour company NOT to bring a lot of cash and that every lodge would take credit cards. We found this to be UNIVERSALLY not true. Advise you to bring twice as much cash as you think you will need for tips, drinks, souvenirs and incidentals. There are NO cash machines in the bush, and borrowing from that snoring neighbor is...
Read moreOur stay at Maweninga Camp was an absolute highlight of our safari through Tanzania. Perched high on a massive granite outcrop, the camp offers breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding savannah.||Each tent is positioned on wooden terraces, blending into the natural landscape while still offering modern comforts. Our tent was spacious and well-appointed, with a comfortable bed, en-suite bathroom (complete with flush toilet and hot water), and a private open terrace where we enjoyed sunset views. The setting is rustic but elegant — a perfect balance for those wanting to feel immersed in the wild without sacrificing comfort.||The main lodge area was equally impressive, featuring cozy lounges, two restaurants, and fire pits where we swapped stories with other travelers. The terrace views are simply spectacular, and the staff were welcoming, attentive, and genuinely kind. The meals were fresh, delicious and beautifully presented. ||One of the best parts of Maweninga is its location. Being inside Tarangire, you're surrounded by wildlife and baobab trees, and close to the park’s famous elephant herds. It truly felt like we were in the heart of nature.||If you're looking for a unique, scenic, and authentic safari stay in Tarangire, Maweninga Camp is not to be missed....

The tented accommodation was excellent and we suffered no issues with bugs or wildlife. In fact, the plentiful rock hyrax playing outside were delightful. We were very impressed that the hot water truly was hot and it was plentiful.| The only thing not quite excellent was the food and the over exorbitant price of drinks, and then the lack of a network connection to pay by credit card the next morning! We were told we could pay by card at the next lodge as it has common ownership but we were left feeling slightly uncomfortable.| Beware these inflated drinks prices for tourists are very common, certainly everywhere we visited in Tanzania - you can buy the same drinks in the local supermarket much more cheaply so it’s not about import costs or charges. The breakfast consisted mostly of bread and sweet things and the cheese was very hard. The extremely undercooked eggs were perfect for me but for my husband, the ‘well cooked’ version looked exactly the same as mine hence, were inedible.| We would return, not least for the hot water, but would ask our guide to stop the jeep on the way to buy drinks in the...
