After our morning safari drive (3/11/23), we had an included lunch at the Taragire Safari Lodge. At all other lodge restaurants on our trip, the server would inform us if drinks were included or not in pre-paid lunches. If they did not say anything, we assumed drinks were included. We ordered water, and our waiter suggested that they had good “lemonade.” We ordered 3 of them, and they were refreshing after a hot drive. When we got up to leave the table, the waiter informed us that drinks were not included with the pre-paid lunch. We asked him “how much?” and he said US $10. We asked if that was for all 3 lemonades and he said no. Each lemonade was $10 so it was a total of $30 for 3 lemonades. I asked to see the drink menu (photo attached) to verify the actual price of the lemonade. There was no “lemonade” on the menu. The waiter and the bartender told us that we had “mocktails,” and mocktails were $10 each. When I said there is no “mocktail” listed on the drink menu with any price, the bartender said that the price was in the computer. We asked to talk with the manager but were told to talk to the hostess who could not assist us either. The restaurant and bar staff were not helpful at all in resolving our issue. We still don’t know if we were ripped off or if this lodge actually does charge $10 for a “lemonade.” The lodge location is beautiful. If you do eat here, please check and verify price for any order to avoid being felt that you were misled or cheated...
Read moreMy experience at Tarangire Safari Lodge was top notch, I shall absolutely visit again, and I highly recommend. It is important to first acknowledge the staff and personnel, each of whom are friendly, welcoming, kind, courteous and professional. Each member of staff worked to ensure my pleasant stay and experience.
Views from Tent 22 and the lodge veranda, dining room and reception are incredible—spectacular views as far as the eye may see.
On property amenities including tent accommodations, pool, etc. were well appointed, clean and well maintained.
During a seven day visit, lodge sponsored activities were a true highlight and occupied an abundance of time. Participating in numerous morning, evening and night time game drives, along with a morning bush walk, made my first experience in Tanzania both illuminating and exciting. Observed numerous species of animal, even during the wet season, on the game drives and at the lodge itself.
Food consistently exceeded expectations, in particular, the beef and the various cakes for dessert.
A visit to Tarangire National Park certainly should include a stay at the Tarangire...
Read moreThis was our first hotel during our 9 day Safari. This place has a stunning and nobody can deny that.
We got a warm welcome and were fortunate enough to have a bungalow. They are spacious and look very nice. However, the mosquito nets are quite broken and dirty. Other than that great rooms and spacious enough.
The dinner was quite good with a bit of variety. The breakfast was also ok but nothing special.
Now if you travel with children, beware at night. This is obviously nothing new but you won't get much sleep at night because the animals are there, steps away. Sounds cozy and it also is but it can be stressful with children below the age of 10. That is part of the experience but I would be careful to travel to this place with small children, given also the fact about a serious incident 2 decades ago at that very same lodge. I did not feel safe being escorted by a a Masai guard who did not have any protection gear whatsoever apart from his hands and I would feel safer with some more protection.
Apart from the stunning view there are also plenty of animals to be seen during...
