Escarpment Luxury Camp Serengeti — Hotel in Mara Region

We had the privilege of going on a safari in Kenya and Tanzania, staying at some fantastic camps and lodges along the way. During our time in the Serengeti, we stayed at the Escarpment, an extraordinary camp nestled in the heart of the most natural and untouched savannah. Upon our arrival, we were greeted by Pierre, the camp's incredibly attentive and helpful manager, and the rest of the staff with a traditional Swahili song. On our first day, Pierre took us for a snack overlooking a breathtaking sunset. I must say, it was one of the most beautiful starry skies I've ever seen in my life. As we were the only guests in the camp, Pierre upgraded us to one of the VIP tents, which are larger than the standard tents and come with a small pool heated by wood fire. During the night, we could hear the lions and hyenas roaming nearby. During the day, we spotted giraffes, elephants, zebras, gazelles, and topis from the main tent. In the afternoons, after our safaris, our daughters (8 and 11 years old) played Monopoly and cards with Upendo (the waitress) and Mussa (the bartender), who turned out to be the highlight of the girls' stay. :) During our final dinner, the entire staff surprised us once again by singing the same traditional song, which has been stuck in our heads ever since. We stayed at Escarpment Luxury Camp for 4 nights -- our first trip to Tanzania and Serengeti.||Decor:|The camp and rooms are tastefully done -- timeless elegance. ||Staff:|The staff were lovely. Their motto is "Why not?" and the staff exemplified it. They prepared meals for us to carry to our taste (vegetarian), and entertained us with their beautiful song. I am sure it was all hard to pull off in the middle of nowhere. But it seemed effortless. ||Location:|About the property location. This is a stunning property right in Serengeti National Park. You can see all manner of wildlife from the patio -- giraffes, zebras, and all kinds of beautiful birds.|It's a bit of a drive to central Seronara -- about an hour which we had to do each day for the safaris. On the flip side, we saw lots of action close to the camp -- a pride of lions at a meal and a cheetah chasing a herd of zebras without the annoyance of 20 other cars (they came later). ||Some caveats|I think this location would be tough on families with pre-teen kids. There is no privacy in the bathroom (maybe a curtain can be arranged) and the spacing between the tents is too much to make it safe for kids to be in a separate tent. It is in the middle of Serengeti so it is unsafe to walk back and forth after dark. My wife and I just returned from an amazing day at Escarpment Serengeti Luxury Camp, and we were absolutely delighted! This is the perfect place for anyone who wants to experience the wild without sacrificing comfort.||The tents were incredibly comfortable and equipped with all the amenities one could wish for. We were truly impressed with the high level of service the camp provides its guests. One of the main highlights was that the staff did not constantly ask how we were doing or whether we were enjoying ourselves. They allowed us to fully immerse ourselves in nature, enjoy solitude, and listen to the sounds of the savannah. Meanwhile, the staff was always attentive, nearby, and ready to assist if needed.||The scenery around the camp is simply breathtaking. From our tent, we could observe zebras, impalas, and giraffes, which was simply unforgettable. As soon as we drove out of the camp, we immediately came across a large pride of lions, which was a highlight of our journey.||Escarpment Serengeti Luxury Camp became a true oasis for us in the heart of the savannah, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone seeking a unique blend of wilderness and luxury.
