Jongomero lodge and its wonderful team are providing a unique, romantic and luxury experience of the beautiful Ruaha National park.|The lodge is located in the Southern part of the park far away from any other lodge, but just 5 min from an own airstrip (at least two airlines provide connection with Dar Ee Salam). The small number of guests and remote location provides a very exclusive and unique experience of the park and its wildlife.|We spent 4 nights at the lodge, saw lions 5 times and Cheetah twice. There are lots of other mammals incl. giraffe, zebra, impala, hippos, baboons, velvet monkeys etc., but also a very large variety of birds incl. many eagles, storks, vultures and even giant owls.|Our guide (Lambert) and the 3 other guides were very experienced and did a fabulous job to spot and explain wildlife.|The lodge itself is very beautiful in every little detail. Wonderful interior design of luxury tents and building, see photos enclosed, but also a beautiful location right at the Jongomero riverbed which attracts wildlife to the lodge. Meals are served at the lodge, but also at wonderful spots during the game drives. The service of the entire team is outstanding!|We loved the food: great variety, very delicious and reasonably healthy. Our personal „Michelin Star“ for the lunch at the lodge with creative excellent salads and refreshing other dishes. The variety and quality of drinks is also great. The team provides full flexibility regarding the schedule of games drives and meals. We did two games dives per day when we stayed in the Southern part of the park, but we also dis a full day safari to the Northern part of the park which is a great complement to experience. There is laundry service too and the internet connection at the lodge is very good while there is no 3G/4G coverage in the Southern part of the park.|This lodge is a fantastic place for nature lovers who want an exclusive relaxed experience. There is only one issue during the dry season: many Tse Tse flies during game drives (not at the lodge). You should wear long sleeve shirts and long trousers and avoid blue and black color as these flies love these colors.|We had a fantastic time at Jongomero! Thank you very much to the...
Read moreWe were sad to leave Siwandu but excited to arrive at Jongomero Camp in the Ruaha National Park for the next leg of the safari. What a fantastic musical welcome! Jongomero is a stunning location on the banks of a sand river (dry while we were there in November) and surrounded by acacia trees. We were met by our guide Giovani, who became known as ‘eagle eye’ after he demonstrated an amazing skill in spotting of cheetah. Giovanni was not only extremely knowledgeable of the habits and habitats of all the birds and animals we encountered but also the flora and fauna. A lovely gentle man with a wealth of information.|Back at camp we couldn’t have anyone better to look after us than Sherif who made sure we were never without food or drink or a laugh. I won’t forget the cricket in the bag in a hurry.|The ‘tents’ at Jongomero are luxurious, tastefully designed and very comfortable, each one set on the edge of the riverbank. A “knock knock” would start the day each morning with a cup of delicious coffee ready to set off on the early drive through a beautiful landscape full of East African delights (always remembering not to wear the dark colours Tsetse flies are attracted to) After lunch we would cool off in the pool where one day we were delighted to spend a couple of hours watching a family of elephants on the other side of the river bed.|Little jongomero was just being finished, I would SO love to...
Read moreWe discovered Laba Laba while researching for our Honeymoon, and booked both of our main stays at their locations, the first being Jongomero Camp. On arrival at the airstrip you have amazing views of the National Park and the camp is a short drive from there. Vincent our Guide for the 5 days collected us and we experienced such a warm welcome from Vincent, Claude, Sharrif and the rest of the team at the camp. Throughout our stay we had the most incredible service and the team were truly fantastic, from the food, to the accommodation, to the safari experience, we couldn't have asked for more! I have been on multiple safaris, mostly self-drive, and this was my husband's first safari, so we were searching for an experience that would suit both of us, and Ruaha certainly delivered... The National Park is still largely a true wilderness and therefore you have fewer people and vehicles, this does mean the animals are less comfortable around vehicles than you would experience in the Serengeti, however you have the most amazing wildlife experiences, just you and the animals the majority of the time. In the 5 days we had incredible sightings of Cheetah, Lion, Elephants, Giraffe, Eland, Jackal (Side striped and Black backed), Buffalo, many species of birds and other antelope. |We will forever cherish our stay in Ruaha and the people...
