I had stayed at the Landmark once before in 2009. It wasn't anything special then and if anything, has deteriorated some since. The good: the sheets are clean, there's a lock on the door, and has indoor plumbing. That alone makes this facility notable in Tukuyu. The food was barely passable and the wait time at dinner was extraordinarily long. The bad: the curtains in our room had mildew, hot water was "on demand" meaning that they management turned it off every day and we had to ask for this to be turned on, the "flat screen TV in every room" is fine if you don't mind 1 channel in Swahili, and the attitude of the desk staff ranged from okay to totally disinterested and rude. -9.258240º, 33.64641º Without no serious competition for accommodation and restaurant in Tukuyu, this big concrete Landmark hotel should be a hotel from hell. Remarkably, it is not, but have no expectations: it is basic and clean. It has a restaurant and a bar/lounge with no other amenities except free parking and a small camping area in the garden.
In June 2024, the spacious room 207 on the first floor (2F) overlooked the busy road full of noisy boda-boda motorbikes. Ask for a less noisy room at the back. The room could benefit from an update in furnishings and decor. It has a double bed, flat-screen TV, hot shower and unfurnished balcony. No Wi-Fi reception and lift in the hotel. Staff members are friendly, but don’t expect too much.
The hotel restaurant has no real competition in town, serves slowly but offers good food if you order early. Wi-Fi reception in the restaurant is free.
