Our recent stay at Mantis Lodge with family and friends presented a blend of positive experiences and notable challenges. On a positive note, the location is undeniably appealing, set amidst a serene wilderness that creates a tranquil atmosphere. The relatively new buildings contribute to a fresh ambiance, and the chef's dedication in the kitchen, particularly during breakfast, was commendable. Additionally, the beds and bed sheets were clean and comfortable.
However, the negatives were hard to overlook. The construction of the large family cottage appeared hastily executed, lacking attention to crucial details. Despite advertising and charging for two separate rooms, only one was equipped with an AC, leaving the other room for kids with a small fan that proved insufficient in the summer heat. The children ended up sleeping on the floor of the main room with a blanket. The owner's explanation that AC could make children sick, and therefore not installing it in the second room, felt more like a taunt than a reasonable response.
The bathroom in the family cottage presented a significant issue, with a slope directing water into the bedroom, resulting in a sizable pool of water after every bath.
Privacy concerns arose from thin and see-through curtains, compromising our sense of seclusion, especially in the night when the rooms were illuminated from within. Feedback regarding this issue was provided to the owner.
One of our group members endured a sleepless night in a room with a non-functioning AC. Unfortunately, during check-out, there was neither an apology nor any gesture of goodwill from the owner, who also served as the manager, leaving us with a sense of disappointment. The full charge for the specific room was demanded and paid.
Navigating to the lodge proved challenging due to poorly marked paths with numerous twists and turns. We provided feedback to the owner about the need for more signboards.
In conclusion, Mantis Lodge holds potential with its picturesque location, but improvements in construction planning, customer service, and facility maintenance are imperative for a more satisfying...

There are problems with the electrical power in Tanzania, as it cuts out from time to time, but the complex has its own generator, which kicks in to power essential services like lights etc. The breakfast is excellent, well presented and served by very courteous and helpful waiting staff. The lunch and evening meals are excellent too and the menu is extensive.
