(2014) "Sable Mountain is set in the beautiful Beho Beho hills of Selous Game Reserve with every room (banda) set apart from the rest and each with a beautiful view..." -> Text from their website which is definitely true. It's a beautiful lodge. There is even a swimming pool (we don't use it during safari but we heard other people love it..). Very nice breakfast and friendly staff. (*=bad / **=reasonable / ***=nice / ****=almost perfect / *****=perfect)

We had a really enjoyable 4 night stay at Sable Mountain with our 13 and 11 year old children. From being met at the airstrip, the staff looked after us impeccably throughout and made you feel very welcome. The lodge is located about a 30 minute drive from the game reserve gate and 1.5 hrs from the airstrip. That said, there were lots of impala and baboons around the lodge as well as plenty of amazing birds and signs of elephant etc. The safari began as soon as we left the airstrip where we saw elephant, zebra, warthog, giraffe, wildebeest and impala on route to the lodge. We went on full day drive and boat safari on day 1 (the boat safari was excellent and really broke up the day), a local walking safari on day 2 and trip to a local Masai village (both of which exceeded expectations!) and a full day driven safari on day 3. The guide was superb and seemed to be a step ahead of many of the other guides we came across finding us lions sleeping in the afternoon sun and elephant at remote watering holes. The full day safari was a long day - 10 hrs - but really worth it. The accommodation at the site was very good and the views from the accommodation looking out over the mountains were superb. There was a very attentive night guard who would always walk us to and from our tent so we felt very safe. One of the most memorable aspects was the food. It was simply superb. I am not a soup person but wow! The swimming pool was an additional bonus which the children really enjoyed on day 2, especially as there were very few other people staying in the lodge. Whilst this isn't a lodge bang in the middle of the game reserve where you can sit back and enjoy game walking past your tent, it is an amazing location and we would highly recommend it and definitely...

Had a wonderful 3 days with the Sable lodge team. Highly recommend the full day safari drive and boat tour (you definitely get your monies worth)||All staff extremely friendly, helpful and attentive. ||Super king bed most welcome and comfortable (granted no a/c or sockets in room). Bathroom is attached and shower/bath area has unbeatable views of the surrounding scenery (including amazing views of the stars and the sounds of the forest).||Food was fantastic and varied. Never rushed to finish.||Fantastic experience for first time safari goers.....the staff definitely made the experience super enjoyable.||The guides ability to drive and/or spot the wildlife (leopard up a tree to name for example) was second to none.||Their experience and knowledge was fantastic and were also able to give interesting facts about the animals and surrounding nature in general.||The boat ride amongst crocodiles and hippos was something (among many other experiences) that will...
