I usually stay here for work when visiting Pemba. Simple, but very comfortable Bread and Breakfast (and dinner - if you want and I would recommend trying it!) style guest house. There are multiple rooms (some with A/C, others without A/C; some with a dedicated hot water tank, others without) so when you book make sure you put in what you prefer. Rooms have big wooden built in closets (a bit musty during and shortly after the rainy season) that are really quality craftsmanship.
There is a common dining room and living room with big comfy couches and a really nice wooden ceiling. There is also a filtered water station which is good drinking water. Breakfast and dinner are always excellent - and Sharif will shift the dishes if you (say you dont eat fish).
The highlight of course is Sharif, the owner and operator. His house is the ground floor, and the guest house is above. Super safe, super reliable, etc. The guest house is just off the main road in Pemba and right in the middle of where uptown turns...
