I had the absolute pleasure of staying at Pemba Paradise Resort, and I can honestly say it was one of the most special experiences I’ve ever had while traveling. From the very beginning, everything felt effortless and welcoming, but what truly made my stay unforgettable were the people who looked after me. A very special mention goes to Victor and Ilyasa, the two waiters who turned every meal and every moment into something personal and memorable. Their kindness, attention to detail, and genuine smiles made me feel not just like a guest, but like I was at home among friends. Having them around during my stay gave everything an extra warmth and charm — it honestly felt like a one-of-a-kind experience. The food at the resort deserves all the praise as well. The chefs are incredibly talented, and every dish was prepared with such care and flavor that it felt like a celebration each time I sat down at the table. From breakfast to dinner, everything was delicious, beautifully presented, and full of the fresh, vibrant taste of Zanzibar. The resort itself is stunning — peaceful, private, and with a natural beauty that makes it the perfect escape. At times, it felt like I had the whole place to myself, which made the stay even more magical. In short: Pemba Paradise Resort lives up to its name in every way. Amazing service, unforgettable staff like Victor and Ilyasa, incredible food, and a setting you can’t ask more from. I left with a heart full of gratitude and memories I’ll never forget.

Review: Don't expect too much from the service and good at Pemba Paradise. The room is large and you can comfortably stay there. Hint: bring some food and water with you (fridge is available in the room). Price: 110USD per night for one room / suite 5USD per bottle beer and 3USD for a large bottle of water. Overall, it is quite expensive. Room: Overall the room is clean and quite spacious with a sofa, bed and bathroom. The amenities, however, are used (rusty) and not in a superb condition. In addition, there is not door between bathroom and suite. Food: the food was not tasty at all. Since the location is far away from any restaurants you either take some food with you or you eat there. There is not much option unfortunately. Breakfast is apparently from 7am to 10am. However, the cook arrives in the kitchen around 7.40am. On one evening the beer cost 3USD per bottle. The other night the beer cost 5USD. Upon questioning the staff about this stellar price increase, the staff simply replied that the manager decided to increase the price. Service: service was okay, but out of the entire trip, the service here was by far the worst.

The resort was very nice and the was staff really kind and friendly. We came in March 2023, which is the end of the season, and it was extremely quiet and peaceful. The beach is very good for snorkelling, although you need to swim a bit out of the sore, so we recommend you to bring fins! But when the tide is high you get more of a normal beach. Also consider this when you walk towards other small beaches, because the paths will disappear 🙈 in general, it really felt like true paradise! We also can recommend diving with AfroDivers!!! They were super fun and really do their best taking you to the best place to dive on the day based on the weather, visibility and current conditions! The only reason why I’m giving 4/5 is because the food and specially the drinks, are a bit overpriced. And in my opinion the food is okay but they’re not amazing dishes either. So definitely there’s room for improvement here 😊

Choosing Pemba: |After safari in the Maasai Mara, we wanted to continue our adventure to the beach. Having researched and read lots of reviews about Zanzibar we decided to split our time between the island of Pemba and Zanzibar. Pemba is less developed than Zanzibar with only a handful of hotel options. We chose The Aiyana for the style and designs of the rooms, we were not disappointed. The Aiyana is a carefully thought out and beautifully designed hotel woven into the landscape.||Travel: |Travelling to Pemba required a hop from the Mara to Nairobi Wilson, a skip to Zanzibar and then a jump to Pemba. On paper we could have done all three flights in one day, however we were advised that African flight times can be subject to change so we did an overnight in Stone Town, and then flew out to Pemba first thing the following morning. Pemba is 30 mins from Zanzibar. ||Bumpy Road:|From Pemba Airport to The Aiyana is 1 1/2hrs by road, and was described as a bumpy road ride, the first hour was on smooth tarmac, and the last 11km took 1/2 hour on pot holed tracks through the rainforest. The journey itself is fascinating glimpse into undisturbed island life. The people of Pemba are known to be friendly and after journeying through countryside and villages we emerged at The Aiyana, hidden along the coast amongst lush tropical rainforest and palm trees. The island is relatively undeveloped and we didn't see any other tourists on our journey, which added to our adventure.||Food:|The quality of food at The Aiyana was very good and the staff excellent. There is only one restaurant and our meal plan on Full Board included breakfast, lunch and dinner. The Aiyana is incredibly laid back and we could stroll to the restaurant for fresh food, without worrying about the time. The menu has daily specials and mainly focuses on freshly caught fish, with chicken or vegetarian options. Pemba is a farming and fishing island and much of the produce was sourced locally. The staff are truly welcoming, warm and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. ||Ambience:|This truly is a Robinson Crusoe escape. The Aiyana is very quiet - a true paradise. We stayed at the beginning of July, before peak season, and the hotel was quiet. There's no ambient music at The Aiyana it's a place of peace and tranquility. The wifi was intermittent which created a wonderful opportunity to fully engage with our teenage kids and to enjoy this slice of paradise together. The Aiyana is enchanting. The quality of the rooms, service and food was impeccable, whilst it is worth five stars it is not commercial, more for discerning travellers who appreciate the community, nature and being at peace. Perfect for a writer or artist, honeymooners, families or couples looking for nature, peace and tranquility. ||Rooms:|We stayed in the Royal Suite which was truly amazing.||The Royal Suite was huge. After a grand entrance, a generous hall offers a window straight onto the villa pool, and beyond to your private garden with sunning platform and the sea. It is stunning. From the hall, to the right is the huge master bedroom, with equally huge bathroom, the bedroom has two huge windows and doors opening to the pool and a terrace, the bathroom has a freestanding bath, indoor rain shower and outdoor rain shower. To the left of the hall is a huge living space with two large sofas and a dining table for six - eight, then into the second four poster bedroom, with two wardrobes, leading to another huge en-suite with double vanity, freestanding bath and shower. Again the bedroom has two huge windows and doors opening out onto the private terrace which wraps around the property.||Weather:|First week of July and the weather was mixed. Torrential tropical rain storms followed by blue skies and sunshine. We didn't realise that July is not peak season, we found the daily temperatures 29-30 degrees really comfortable, and it wasn't humid. ||Beach:|Turquoise waters lapped at soft white sand. I'd recommend reef shoes for walking into the sea which is in parts rocky and you do have to watch out for sea urchins. The Aiyana blends perfectly into nature, white villas nestled amongst palms fringing white sands and turquoise waters. I wish we were back there now.||Thank you:|Thank you so much to the staff for making us so welcome and for making our stay so special. We hope to...

Just returned from an unforgettable 11-day family holiday at The Aiyana Resort on Pemba Island, Tanzania, and I can honestly say we found heaven on earth. Traveling with my brother, his wife, and their two children, we were lucky enough to stay in the Presidential Villa—a luxurious sanctuary with three bedrooms and its own private pool.||From the moment we arrived, what truly set The Aiyana apart was the outstanding staff. Their kindness and commitment felt utterly genuine. Despite being so remote and far from their own families, they consistently gave 110% to ensure our happiness. They treated my niece and nephew like royalty, making them feel super special every day. A standout moment was the Spa Manageress, who not only gave the children complimentary massages (which they adored!) but also showered them with the warmest hugs every time she saw them. For the adults, the massages—especially at the incredible Rock Spa—were simply exceptional.||Every experience felt like a secret surprise. Our daily snorkelling trips were a blast, thanks to the fantastic boat captains and crew who serenaded us with songs the whole way. Our sandbank picnic was a highlight: GM Owen even joined us, with the super-helpful Rehema serving with the most beautiful smile, and Mary the chef cooking the most exquisite prawns. Watching our dhow captain effortlessly climb the rigging to fix a twisted sail was an added touch of effortless expertise!||The resort itself is a masterpiece. Pemba Island is magical, and the setting and stunning architecture of The Aiyana work together to immediately soothe your soul, making you feel sublimely happy and relaxed. Whether it was the romantic beach dinners, the intimate villa dinner, the cozy bonfires, or the daily unexpected treats, the atmosphere was pure bliss.||Our evenings were spent playing boa in the bar, sampling our way through the scrumptious cocktail menu, and snacking on homemade potato crisps. Ramadan and Shamen, and one other whose name I don't remember, really made this family time super special with their absolute kindness and professionalism. Meanwhile, the staff happily collected fresh coconuts for the kids daily.||We were also amazed by the hands-on involvement of the owner, who was installing a new solar art display. He was incredibly friendly, down-to-earth, and worked alongside his team every day. He even organized a delightful Warwick wine tasting—a beautiful touch of South African familiarity that included meeting the wine company's CEO.||Every single moment at The Aiyana was absolute perfection. We would return in a heartbeat and want to send a massive, heartfelt thank you to every member of this truly outstanding team. They are the heart and soul of...

||||Activiteiten||The Aiyana biedt verschillende activiteiten aan.
