The staff was very nice it’s a shame they need to work in such a dishonest place. Booked for 3 nights using Booking.com, on the way there we had a car break down so couldn’t make it for the 1st night. We called the hotel as the booking was non refundable but not prepaid because they don’t accept card payments. The owner confirmed it’s ok, we can come the next day, she will change the booking to 2 nights in the system and not charge for the 1st one. By the way, it was a professional trip for teachers of our foundation Uvi Foundation for Education teaching hygiene class at MWK secondary school, so the booking was pre approved by our accountant. The day of the departure we were charge 2 times more! For 2 nights but instead of payment of $56 for 2 rooms for 1 night it was TZS 330,000 so around $130! Tried to discuss, it got very unpleasant. We had a long drive ahead of us so I paid and asked our accountant to deal with it. The phone number isn’t reachable, nobody answered the phone. Also the location is very disappointing, not at the beach, it’s a walk through garbage if you want to get to the ocean and the beach is also...

We were not given the rooms we have booked. We booked two rooms with balcony, sea view and large windows. On arrival, we were shown one room with two beds for three adults. This room was like a prison cell. When we complained, we were shown a moulding hut on sand with a very little bed. Finally, we were shown a second prison cell. Because it was late, we stayed. One room did not have towels or soap, but many ants. In the night, the rain was flowing into the second room, because there is a gap between the door and the threshold. When we asked for food, we only could get chicken with chips for three times the price, which is usual. It came cold and terrible. We could not eat it. We demanded a price reduction because we did get rooms much worse than the booked. Finally, the manager agreed to a reduction of 2 Euro per room, which is ridiculous. There is no hot water, the rooms were not really clean and terrible - There are a lot of waste dumps on the plot and there is no beach in front, only a large mangrove forest. We cannot recommend this place. For less money, you get better local guest houses...

Unfortunately the website prices are very wrong and booking.com prices misleading. Wish we had read the negative reviews first before coming here. They wanted to charge $26 not $10 for me to stay in a dorm room and give my friends a private room for the same price, but not the ones shown in the photos of the place. They agreed the website was misleading about the price of the rooms and offered a discount but not for the private room that was advertised through photos. Also it’s not right on the beach as we thought from the information online. We opted to stay in town instead where the price was over half the price of the dorm room with breakfast included for a private room with hot water and a close drive to the beach (40,000tzs).

That being said the place is beautiful and has huge potential, it’s a shame the information online is wrong.

The food from the restaurant however was lovely, after travelling all the way there it was nice to stop and chill and eat some...
