The first impression of beauty failed quickly. The location is perfect though somewhat far from town, for the evenings you are dependent on Bajajis. However the beauty of the buildings faded with the holes in the roofs, the more or less see through doors, the lamps that doesn’t work, the mosquito nets that aren’t properly hung thus not cover satisfactory. The pool is not fit for a bath nor is it visually attractive (not clean or circulated) the beach walk ways are broken/destroyed and there is no good access to the water/beach. The beach is full of plastic and there is no sign of any cleaning efforts.||But more l find the service problematic. They are friendly but you can’t trust any price and need to bargain even the cup or a tea. And the last day the service was suddenly great, which makes things even worse from my perspective. The staff were helpful and friendly, no surprises at checkout, the beach is decent, and well lit at night - great for chasing crabs after dinner. ||||The rooms all seem to be in the garden area, so no sea view options, but pleasant enough. Older but clean. ||||As with everywhere else we have stayed, pre-ordering meals cuts down long wait times, and they were flexible enough to bring us our breakfast right on the beach, which was a treat.||||We have stayed in several Bagamoyo hotels. We will return to this one as our first choice. There is nothing exceptional about it, but we felt...
Read moreLivingstone Beach Resort, formerly Malaika Beach Resort, was a pleasant surprise during a recent work trip to Bagamoyo. I stayed 2 nights in one of the four room bandas in a nice garden. The room was a good size, with quiet AC, and a decent sized desk for working. The shower was good, with immediate hot water and decent pressure. Staff were welcoming, and the one meal I had was very tasty, if a little slow in arriving. There is a reasonably sized pool, and a lovely beach front, and I will certainly come back from Dar at least for a day trip...
