From the moment we arrived, everything was perfect.||We were warmly collected at the airstrip by Gabriel, who not only handled all of our permits but was also our safari guide throughout our stay. His knowledge and care made every drive unforgettable.||On arrival at the camp, we were greeted by Shaun, Millie, and Gordo with welcome drinks and cool towels before being given a lovely tour of the camp. It immediately felt special.||The food was absolutely outstanding — every meal was something new and delicious thanks to the wonderful chef. Even when we dined out on safari, meals were beautifully set up with tablecloths, proper cutlery, and incredible attention to detail.||The staff truly made the camp feel like home. Amon and Frank took such great care of us in the restaurant, always with smiles and kindness. On the river safari, Omary impressed us with his vast knowledge, and Sanford was simply fantastic. In the evenings, the Maasai warriors ensured our safety as we moved through camp after dark. A special mention to Lucas, who not only looked after us but also taught us some Maasai and Swahili — such a wonderful experience.||What stood out most was how much it felt like being with family. Every goodbye was not really a farewell, but a “see you soon.” We are already planning our return.||The safaris themselves were beyond words — breathtaking wildlife, unforgettable moments, and guides who made every adventure come alive.||Rufiji River Camp is more than just a place to stay — it’s an experience...
Read moreI honestly dont know where to start, we booked this trip as first time safari people, really didnt know what to expect, we need not have worried. ||From the moment we touched down on the airstrip we were picked up by Bosco, who ended up being one of our game drivers for the whole trip, even with the short drive back to camp he was educating us on our surrounding, showing us everything that we came across on our way. We arrived at our camp and were warmly greeted by Shaun and his wife Millie.||These guys are wonderfully helpful, warm, kind, welcoming and instantly greeted us like family. Answered all our questions, addressed any anxious concerns of the unknown and made us feel right at home in minutes. They remained that way the entire trip, they were there for breakfast, lunch and dinner, waved us off on our game drives and were there to greet us on our return, keen to hear how we got on, always present, not hiding in the office like some managers. Very hands on and other staff had nothing but good things to say about them. ||Bosco and Haule....they were our guides and drivers and I wanted to bring them home, I adore them....so unbelievably knowledgeable, took the time to explain things that wouldn't have even crossed my mind, we learnt so much from them, not just about the animals but the area, vegetation, the people and tribes, right down to the small creatures and flowers....they asked what we wanted to see and they made it happen!! We saw everything we wanted plus more. Their eyesight is like laser!! How they spot things from a moving vehicle the way they do is beyond me!!! They made the whole experience, start to finish so very very special, they are friends for life now, we formed a real bond and they're experience blows my mind....I was told by friends who had done such trips that your guides make or break your safari and our beautiful bosco and haule certainly made ours. True assets to rufijji. ||On other points, the masai, who are their to protect your at night from the animals roaming nearby, escorting you to and back from camp, and in our case, the lovely Lucas who also stayed with us during our fly camping experience is a very special man, always smiling, made me feel so safe and again taught me so much.....True heart.||The food was always incredible throughout the whole trip, the wine (south african) was exceptional, the camp itself was comfortable, beautiful, traditional and in keeping with what you want from a safari experience. All staff couldn't do enough for you, everyone so helpful and accommodating, everyone pulled together and you could tell were a close and strong team. ||We had the most unforgettable experience for our 4 nights here.....the sightings were out of this world, everything exceeded my expectations and the whole 4 nights from start to finish was so much more that I could have ever imagined. The national park and the camp are a must, and please do the fly camping experience, so unique and special......im so glad we got to do it, camping out away from your camp with your private team to be there with you is up there in the best things ive ever...
Read moreOur stay in Rufiji was simply the best of our South Tanzania safari trip. We had been before in Mikumi and Ruaha and even though the experience there was amazing, Rufiji was exceptional and super special.||From an objective perspective, the installations are high quality with a very nice tent with a large veranda with two sitting areas, the common areas are beautifully decorated with an impressive view to the river, and the location of the camp is optimal, very close to the air strip which allows to optimize perfectly your activities not having to plan a lot of extra time to ensure getting on time to your flight.||Game drives and safaris were amazing. We did walking safari, game drives, boat trips and each activity was perfect in different ways. Following tracks while walking escorted by our guides and the rangers, seeing all sort of animals so close, learning about nature with knowledgeable guides or having breakfast or an evening drink in the middle of the bush or the river were experiences hardly to describe that you need to experience yourself.||Now, the best part were the people. Starting with the management that was attentive to optimize our time (in spite of us arriving one hour later than the official start of activities), the service during meals (thanks Amon and Franck for a friendly and efficient service), maintenance of the tents which were always spotless, delicious food by our superb chef , the masais that would look for us and escort us safely to our tent and most specially, our guides. Omari at the boat trips was amazing, able to navigate the river while identifying every single spot where there was anything of interest and letting us the time to enjoy without rushing to continue the trip until we were fully satisfied. We got to see so many animals and it is so special see them from the water!||And Eliah and Haulo, our guides on the walking safari and game drives. We had such a great time with them! They were super knowledgeable, had the best eye to spot and identify animals from the far and would drive us in the bush to try always to get the best view careful to the minimal detail to make our experience unique. Again, no rush to move to the next spot if we were simply amazed with an eagle that just caughted a prye or two young male elephants fighting testing their superiority. And making it all super fun with a great combination of stories, jokes, knowledge and nature experience that made our time with them the best of all safaris (and we have been before in Botswana and South Africa, so not our first safari..). Thank you both if you might read this for such a great experience and for making me realize that my favourite animal is indeed the...
