Heritage Cottage Hotel — Hotel in Ruvuma Region

Wow!! after staying over at other places in Songea eventually tried this hotel on some positive reviews. Well, for starters the management and staff were absolutely wonderful, pleasant and accomodating. Managed to negotiate the price to within my budget and that for a beautiful clean double room with aircon, TV(good channels), comfortable double bed, clean sheets and hot, hot bath/shower. The restaurant stays open until 23;00 and served the most delectable chicken curry, the best in Africa so far, as well as the hugest portion. The menu is really extensive with an excellent variety of dishes. There are many snacks to be found as well, if you're feeling peckish. Breakfast was a super buffet. There is secure parking and also a playground for the kids on the premises. All said, definitely worth 5* and I would not hesitate to stay over again on my return to the town. Well...

Songea is not an area with good hotels. I was delighted to find the Heritage Cottage Hotel. I travel internationals all year, I stay in hotels in the USA, Europe, Mexico and Africa about 300 days each year. ||Keeping in mind this is Songea, Tanzania not Paris, France... I want to say this was a wonderful room. Clean comfortable beds, tile floors, screens on the windows, hot water all the time, air conditioning, flat screen TVs, in room refrigerators, phone, good mosquito nets. The kitchen was clean and the food good and reasonable. The staff all communicated well. The facility was gated and guarded. Play ground for children and in addition to the two dining areas was a large conference building. ||The pricing was very reasonable and they did not try to surprise you will additional charges...

Going to Songea I didn't know what to expect. But I was pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness & size of the rooms. I also felt safe & comfortable. No wifi, but a few English channels that had some good movies playing. Food at the restaurant was good, but took about 2 hours to get our food at dinner. Has a continental breakfast with a few...
