Serengeti Under Canvas was our second &Beyond camp after Klein's Camp! It was our first time in Tanzania, and I’m so glad we chose &Beyond for our special anniversary trip. As soon as you arrive in Kilimanjaro, you are taken care of by the &Beyond staff. They provide a Meet and Greet service so you won’t get lost upon arrival. We were especially worried about arriving at JRO early in the morning at 1 AM, but thanks to the greeting service from the staff, I felt very safe and relieved.
After an amazing time at Klein's Camp, we arrived at Under Canvas. We were greeted by Aziza, our guide, upon landing at Grumeti. Aziza was so knowledgeable and amazing; she drove us through Serengeti Park both in the mornings and late afternoons. You can ask her anything about animals, and she will have an answer! I later learned that Aziza is the first woman to be a safari guide in Tanzania and also an award winner! I was so grateful to have her as our guide.
We were also extremely lucky to have Shema as our butler. He is an amazing person—whenever we asked for anything, he always said, "I want you to be happy, no problem."
The chef, Ramadhan, was truly talented as well. We enjoyed well-balanced, delicious meals every day and dinners in beautiful settings, under the Serengeti stars by the bonfire!
The camp is a mobile camp run by a limited number of staff, so you are able to build a special connection with each person. I have been to many five-star hotels around the world, but &Beyond offers an extraordinary experience. I truly felt that each staff member cared about us and wanted us to have the best experience of our lifetime—especially since, for many of us, visiting Tanzania is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
I have to confess, I had tears when leaving Grumeti airstrip, seeing Aziza waving at us from the plane!

Read moreMy wife and I went on our honeymoon here and we were truly blown away by the service provided by the andBeyond staff. We have been to luxury resorts and restaurants before but this was taken to a whole new level.
Rooms: To call it a tent is a stretch. This is just a ridiculously nice suite with canvas walls that could all be turned into windows. Best view to wakeup to in the morning with coffee however you liked it.
Service: Everyone was so kind and willing to help with every need. Our guide Dullah, was incredibly knowledgeable and incredibly good at tracking and spotting animals. Our super butler Adam, was so friendly, helpful, and funny. The camp manager Amos, was so friendly and somehow made sure everyone was on the same page and the timing of everything was perfect. Samson cheffed up some of the most delicious healthy food I have ever eaten in my entire life.
Location: The camp moves with the great migration of the wildebeest and zebra so the location is incredible all year round. I guarantee you will see wildebeest, zebra, impala, lions, giraffes, warthogs, buffalo, topi, baboons, crocodiles, monkeys, hyenas, birds you've never heard of, hippos, and Thomson gazelles with a good chance of seeing cheetahs, leopards,...
Read morewhat an experience! We got there super late because of a plane mix-up and the staff was there to greet us with a song, hot towel, and welcome drink. I don’t think we truly internalized how “tenty” it would be; but if I have to camp (or glamp), that is how I will do it! We felt safe the whole time, despite being in an actual (glam) tent. The staff was amazing - our room attendants Edward, Julius, and Nemes were just wonderful at their jobs. Truly going above and beyond. The level of coordination and attention to detail was superb. Each time we got back from our game drives, they were waiting for us with towels and drinks and knew when we wanted to shower to have the hot water ready. The food was amazing despite the team cooking outside! The guide - Titus- absolutely phenomenal! He has such a wealth of knowledge and truly made the experience exceptional. We saw two crossings! You could tell he loved his job. I think he is my dad’s new...
