We stayed at Asanja Moru for 3 days and I didn’t want to leave. |The staff were amazing and when the Safari company told them it was our anniversary, they simply couldn’t do enough for us, including pots of tea brought to our tent each morning and a very special “surprise” evening where they put on dinner for two in a private enclosure in the bush, complete with linen table cloth, lanterns and a blazing campfire. An anniversary cake they made for us was presented with a staff singing a Swahili song and clapping along. |Asanja had the best location of all the lodges we stayed at. Out in the open of the magnificent Serengeti plains. It was magic being right smack in the middle of all that nature. Each night we fell asleep to either hyena whooping behind our tent or elephant snapping branches as they fed. |One day, when we returned a bit earlier from game viewing to enjoy some red wine and nibbles in comfy armchairs looking out onto the plains, the wildebeest migration came by right in front of us! A long line of them and just as they reached the middle of the frame of our photo, they stopped and appeared to have an impromptu discussion as they looked over at us. After several minutes, they decided to ignore us and continue on their way.|One night elephant came into the camp. Moses, the Maasai security used a triple spotlight on them so we could see. They were close. The light didn’t seem to bother them at all and they hung around over night. |The next morning we woke up to elephant a few meters behind our tent. They generally ignored us. |Then we caught on video a whole interaction between a staff member trying to shoo the whole herd away from the hot water system, and the bull elephant turning around to mock charge the man. My husband, who’s a veteran of almost two dozen safaris, said he was never in danger as he hid behind one of the tents. |We loved waking up to the expansive distant views of the plains, the quiet and the privacy as it’s a very small and intimate lodge. One evening we had it all to ourselves. The immersion in nature was just sensational. Moses, Khalida and Bariki were especially attentive without being intrusive.|We have every intention of returning to this...
Read moreWe have just returned home after an immense holiday in Tanzania, with safaris, beach time in Zanzibar concluding with a few days town break in Stone Town in Zanzibar as well. One of our Safari stays was at Asanja Moru as part of our trip during our Serengeti safaris, and it is a truly magical place. We picked it deliberately for its more remoteness of all the sites in the Serengeti and also it’s tented facilities and a smaller size – 7 private tents and a family tent. I say tents, its glamping at its best with luxurious facilities with a really large comfortable double bed opening out to the skies at night and the sounds of the bush. The staff are extremely friendly and professional and clearly take pride in their work and their facilities. The smiles that greet you after a weary day on safari is immense and infectious, with care taken to escort you to your tents after dark, the issuing of walkie talkies to call Moses to escort you to the dining area when needed is a comforting touch. The meals were absolutely excellent and would put many top restaurants to shame here in the UK. If you get the chance to purchase the extra of a bush supper and bush breakfast, you should do it as it is a fantastic experience, especially the bush breakfast, and will remain with us as an experience not to be forgotten. This site stood out from all of the locations during our holiday and we would highly recommend it if you are looking for a luxury tented and and intimate Serengeti experience. The hot water bottles in the bed at night was a great touch and shows the attention to detail – thank you guys,...
Read moreThis luxury tent lodge in Serengeti National Park was complete perfection. My husband and I, with our three teenage sons traveled with our guide. From the moment we arrived we were greeted by the incredible staff with warmth, kindness and generosity. Every staff member smiled, talked and were delightful making us feel right at home playing soccer with our children on the lawn. As if this all was not enough, we had our first drinks as a large herd of elephants moved across the grasses under the Tanzania sunset. I could not imagine a more perfect stay. ||The chef even cooked me and my sons, multiple different breads, pancakes and desserts to accommodate our gluten allergy. We have stayed in luxury hotels all over the world, and even our Four Seasons, Montage, etc. experiences could not surpass how we were treated by the chef and staff for our allergies and our children’s accommodation and total safety. They explored with our kids, accompanied us across the property and even mixed special cocktails with us at their beautiful hand carved canoe bar. ||If you are traveling as a couple as a single or as a family in the Serengeti, this stay is an absolute must. The rooms and bathrooms were beautiful, including their bedding, gorgeous robes, toiletries and hot water. There was an abundance of wildlife within 10 minutes of the camp, including lions, giraffes, and elephants. I highly recommend this location and their incredible staff. I only wish we didn’t...
