γγγγγγγγγγγγγγγ|Overall, the experience was very good with many surprises. We were originally expecting that the tent hotel in the grassland would have poor conditions, but upon check-in, we found that the conditions were as good as other luxury hotels. The 3-day stay was especially comfortable and enjoyable, and it was the most unforgettable place to stay during our trip.|||γγγγγγγγγγγγγγγ||Accommodation experience: The facilities were fully equipped, and the rooms included a private bathroom and shower room. The curtains could be pulled open to overlook the outdoors, and there was also a restaurant, bars, and outdoor camp fire area within the hotel's garden. The room had excellent measures against insects and animals, as there were no insects in the room when we arrived(which was a rainning day and much insects outside). The night was also protected by a separate cover, which not only protected our privacy but also prevented animals from entering. We were woken up by the sound of birdsong in the morning and animals' calls in the evening (the security guard said maybe lions and hippos), really was a very special experience and made me feel like sleeping in nature, very unforgettable. The surrounding scenery was also very good, and we could sometimes observe animals using telescopes, as well as small animals such as monkeys, rabbits, and squirrels in the park, very cute.|||γγγγγγγγγγγγγγγ||Meals: The lunch provided by the other hotels was a lunch box, but our hotel had hot dishes that were served in heat preservation boxes. We had lamb fried rice, beef, chicken curry, Italian pasta, etc., which were especially delicious. It was unexpected to enjoy these delicious food in the outdoors. The dinner was even better, and each day's menu was different. The soup was especially delicious, and the salads were also very distinctive and local. The only downside was that there were a few desserts that were too sweet.|||γγγγγγγγγγγγγγγ||Safety: There were many security guards patrolling the boundaries of the park, and security guards will accompanied us if we want go outside during nighttime. The tents were of sturdy materials and had zipper locks and opaque curtains, making them safer.|||γγγγγγγγγγγγγγγ||Transportation and travel: The location of our hotel was relatively good, easily accessible in different direction Safairs, and the airport was not far away. However, be careful not to ignore a road with plenty of flies near our hotel, and remember to keep windows closed to prevent them from entering.|||γγγγγγγγγγγγγγγ||Special experience: Our room did not have a phone, so all communication with friends and hotel staff was through radios. This was a very interesting experience as we and our friends could easily communicate via radios in real-time. Additionally, our last night, the staff prepared a farewell bonfire dinner for us, where all staff of the hotel joined in singing and providing farewell cake to us, which was...
Β Β Β Read moreUnfortunately our stay was not as expected--it was disappointing. We had stayed at 3 other lodges and camps in Tanzania before we got to Ole Serai Moru Kopjes and had great experiences so we were excited to try Ole. It was disappointing and mostly because it lacked the warm staff of all the other properties.||The good news--the room was spacious and the bed very comfortable. Also, the location is near a river so at night we could hear the hippos and the antelopes playing in the morning. In dry season, apparently there are lots of animals on the property because of the river. The restaurant and lounge were spacious and well appointe||On arrival the manager and staff were nice and warm but that slowly diminished. We asked for an extra blanket for the evening and it didn't arrive. When we asked the next day, one did come.||Again though the biggest issues was the lack of warmth except for a few people and we're wondering if it starts with the manager.||We had an issue with our reseveration. We all understand these mishaps happen and in the past, other lodges have worked diligently to resolve the matter. Not here. When we approached the manager about the problem he wasn't happy. When we asked him to look into it, after we showed him the written reservation confirming we had an inclusive plan, he said he'd need to speak to someone besides his direct manager, who said we didn't have such a plan. The next day the manager told us our information was correc. Not in a warm apologetic way but a bit grudgely. We think that the staff's lacking of the warmth of other lodging in Tanzania may come from this tone.||In addtion, while the tent does look like the picture it was a bit more primative than others. That is not necessairly Ole's issue but just our expectations had been elevated. The bed is very comfortable though! While they say there's coffee and tea in the room, there's no hot water. So, the night before, you need to tell them what time to bring hot water in the morning. There was no hair dryer but they did get us one for our stay.||Be aware too at dinner when they bring you water you're automatically charged for it. (Our charges were reversed because of our plan.)||The final issue, suggesting there's concern at the camp about reviews, we were made to fill out the customer survey, with the manager holding it on a desk to ensure we fill it out and likely positively.||Sadly, we cannot highly recommend this camp when there are so many other...
Β Β Β Read moreWhat an experience!||||We arrived after sunset to learn that we were the only guests in the entire camp that particular night due to Covid. We were greeted by the very friendly staff and warned that there could be animals outside of our tent during the night, but there is no cause for concern. We were led down the lighted pathway to our tent, which was really a hotel room surrounded by canvas. It was beautiful! King bed, writing desk, and our own bathroom and shower. Excellent facilities.||||You are not permitted to wander about after dark for your own safety, so the staff came to get us for dinner and escorted us to the dining tent. (Lions walked through the compound the previous week.) The food was very good and there was more than we could eat. Since we were the only ones there, we had a romantic, candlelight dinner.||||We slept to the grunting of the Wildebeest, whinny of Zebras, and hoots of Hyenas all night long as a large herd was nearby. It was so cool! At 2 a.m. our entire tent shook and woke us up as a Cape Buffalo bumped our tent. We saw it resting in the grass about 60 feet from our tent when we were escorted to breakfast at 5:30 a.m.||||After an excellent and large breakfast during which a bat briefly joined us in the tent, we witnessed a half-hearted lion hunt about 300 yards from us.||||Great facilities, gracious and friendly staff, and excellent food. This was a very unique stay during our safari and I highly...
