Serengeti Sopa Lodge — Hotel in Simiyu

The Serengeti Sopa Lodge is a wonderful great place nestled in spectacular surroundings. The place is located on one of the heights so you get a good overview of the landscape.

The hotel itself is of a good standard and has a great offer for safaritourists: Swimming pool, fitness center, TV room, bar, gift shop are just some of the offerings. A big plus for having a doctor available at short notice.

The kitchen offers several dishes for both lunch and dinner. The menu is a combination of famous and local dishes. It both tastes and looks good. A big plus for good arrangements for travelers with children.

The staff are smiling, accommodating and providing great service. Our travel companion with three adults and five children experienced a very good follow-up on all questions and we think the staff gave us that little extra that made our stay even better. After a wonderful two nights stay in January of 2014, came back for another stay in 2016. Spacious rooms with luxurious beds. Food was good mostly with the exception of a tough, gamey, dry steaks one night on my second stay. The staff were curteous and professional. Wonderful views of the savanah from every room. My wife and I have now stayed in 3 Sopa Lodges and they have lots been excellent except the management of their power supply, diesel generator I expect, No power, internet or hot water are available during a large part of the day, and after midnight for overnight gear charging.
