We do confirm feedbacks of some other guests: service and food is excellent, the view from the upper floor of the villas is breathtaking and the site itself is so remote and private - even if fully booked you might feel like in your own little paradise. We have been there one week ago in the mid of the Pandemic: one day we even have been the only guests. Fantastic.||BUT: we have come for snorkeling and nobody told us in advance that you can do this only if tide allows. This means if you are unlucky you might stay there for 6 nights and may actually end up with only 1 - 2 days where it could work due to the tides. The problem is - and that's why we give only 3 instead of 5 points - the resort has not been and still is NOT mentioning this limitation on their website. This is misleading and a very bad information policy to all guests. Furthermore: the resort knew from the very beginning of our booking that we were deeply interested in snorkeling - with the help of our agency we wanted even to book boat safaris one month prior to our arrival.... Not with a single word they pointed out that we should be aware of the tidal challenge or recommended to come a couple of days earlier or later which would have changed our opportunities for snorkeling dramatically to the better. ||The current managers, Nicole and Matt, a very kind and helpful duo from Alaska, appeared to be frustrated since they told their central office about it in time, but were apparently not heard at all. Their data about the tides to expect during our stay never reached us prior to arrival, let alone to our booking. ||Right now we are negotiating with the help of our travel agency in Tanzania a refund or compensation. Why in the meantime still NO adjustment of their snorkeling-info in the web has been made after our recent complaints remains unclear....
Read moreWe spent a week with friends at Kijongo Bay Resort. It was such an amazing holiday. The kids tell it better than we could.||||“The staff were all super friendly and welcoming and I really got to know each of them. The beach was beautiful and so interesting. One of my favourite activities was the beach walk when Karl told us lots of information about the sea creatures that we found on our walk right next to the resort. I also loved kayaking, I had never done it before and really liked being in a double kayak with the waves splashing in my face. I’d really like to go back again some day…if my mum and dad let me.” Abi aged 11 (and a half!)||||“Kijongo Bay Resort was really fun because there were lots of activities and fun things to do. I love swimming and knew they had a pool but I didn’t know there would be kayaks!! It was so much fun when you went out on the sea in the kayak, all the bumpy waves would hit you and I just kept laughing. The food was great! I tried new things like calamari, I didn’t think I would like it but all the other food had been amazing so I decided to try something new and unexpected. I actually really liked it. Thank you for such an amazing time.” Eli (aged 10).||||“The sea was really good for swimming and I loved all the food and I tried lots of new things. I saw lots of great orangey and yellow sunsets with the palms trees in front. The bonfire was really fun and they gave us marshmallows to roast and we were looking at the stars.” Nathan aged 5 (and a half)||||“I saw-ed crabs and did swimming and I like to eat the chapati and the sausages.” Josiah aged 2 (and a half)||||Thanks so much Karl and Sally for your kind hospitality, we hope to be back soon!||||The...
Read moreOur family of five (including one teen, one tween, one child) had a fabulous visit to Kijongo Bay Beach Resort. It was our first visit. We had booked originally for two nights, but decided to stay a third night because the accommodation, location, food and service were so exceptional. We definitely plan to return. The co-managers, Sally and Karl, and the staff team members were exceptional. The kitchen was able to accommodate our special dietary restrictions and produced fresh and tasty meals that all of us could enjoy. The villas are impeccably clean and tastefully appointed. Each villa has a covered balcony with a giant sofa that can be made up as a bed with a mosquito net should any guest want to sleep outdoors. Our son very much enjoyed that option. Kijongo Bay Beach is currently the only resort open on this 8 km stretch of beach. We were the only guests and enjoyed long walks on the beach and extended outings and water play using the kayaks available at the resort. The resort is taking precautions for COVID, including all staff wearing masks and good cleaning and sanitizing practices. ||We had constant delightful breezes blowing from the ocean and felt very comfortable. Travelers who require air conditioning may not be a fit for this resort. The location feels quite remote (which makes it special), but the drive to Dar es Salaam can be made in 5-6 hours depending on traffic and off road driving skills. It will be easiest to visit by car during the dry season as the road is rough and is mainly made of sand as you get closer to the resort. Once you arrive, you will not want...
