I am not biased so Owner's comment below is baseless! I went with few friends and stayed at another place nearby called Uvi house and I am not friend with the Uvi house nor my friends. It was a girls only trip organised via an NGO from Dar. Yes we built connections with each other from the trip and the uvi house owner as we spent few days together. We were exploring village in our spare time and stumbled at Mambo view point. It surely looks beautiful and on highest point. We wanted to revisit these beautiful mountains with other set of friends so went to check for accomodation inquiry. Firstly, no one was at front reception and didn't let us go in to the second reception in their restaurant area. We asked for the accommodation charges and also if we could have a drink and some food at their restaurant while we climbed up anyways. The manager gave price list of accommodation and said surely we can and we placed our order at their cafe too. About 15 mins after the order is placed, the manager comes and says us that we have to pay for day visit pass per person which is 10k tsh. surely not big amount but that was cheeky not to mention beforehand or written anywhere. As we already placed the order for food, we thought to agree and asked if they give us any form of receipt or something so we go back to our lodge for afternoon activity and come back for the sunset view while we already purchased the day pass! On that the manager said that we cant come back as they have a party that evening so in short they made us pay for the day visit pass for eating at their restaurant. If we would have known in advance for the day pass, we would have choose to not eat there. The hot chocolate was terrible. Paying from mobile money, the manager asked to include withdrawal fees which is not any business practice in whole of Tanzania at all! So if you decide to stay there, Good luck dealing with such customer service! Yes the view is great from the top of the mountain and popcorns were...

Shakira, Manager = 5* A mark of a great lodge is its management, Shakira was so friendly, accomodating and i think she genuinely helped cater to all our needs. Even when addressing a few issues/complaints she was very gracious and heard us out. Mambo View Point is very lucky to have her managing and hosting their visitors.

Location: 5* I already gave it 5*, but i need to say more :D. What a sight! Even before you enter the spectacular location that houses the Mambo View Point Eco Lodge, you are filled with this sense of out-wordly peace and tranquility. So green, so earthy and you are literally above the clouds during the early mornings. I would equate the views to lodges in Serengeti if it were on top of a mountain. No where else has come close to it.

Accommodations: 4* The rooms were spacious and nothing beats the views. I wish they had plushier and maybe warmer bedding though. Also the bathroom needs TLC, the toilet was leaking and smelled something nasty. My 4* are for being spacious and the views tbh.

Service: 2* I am truly disappointed by the service. It was unlike any we have received in other parts of Tanzania. To be honest, we did ask for a lot of requests as we brought our own food for BBQ. However, it was really annoying as every single employee wanted to be tipped for every request. I remember when we asked for the water heater to be turned on for the nightly shower for the kids, the employee first wanted money - which is not normal behaviour in my opinion. I think this greedy behaviour must be due to the remoteness of the hotel but it definitely took away some of the bliss i was feeling.

That being said, i would go back in a heartbeat. Thanks Shakira for being such a good hostess!...

After 10 years we finally came back to this place, this time as a family with 5yo and 8yo kids. And it was perfect for them. Finding bugs and insects, chameleons just next to the restaurant, without the need of large hikes. They had some quarrels woth the former managers in the recent years, but this was all put behind earlier this year with a new manager, and Shakira is doing really great in this role. With lots of experience in the hospitality industry she really understands what guests need. A great support to the original owner couple, who are great to talk to. Incredible experience. They are also rebuilding parts of the lodge after a fire. This will turn out great. We celebrated a 40y birthday and the staff made it a memorable one, with a private breakfast in front of our cabin, a cake, and singing and joycing. I don't need to mention the views, this is just spectacular and a unique experience. See for yourself. We came from Dar via Lushoto, and left on the Manolo/Mkomazi route. Both doable with a small RAV4 in dry season. Lushoto route was long and rough, the dust road seemed to never end. The Signboards of the lodge starting behind Manolo are a bit optimistic in the time estimate (30min where it said 15min). Use a mix of Google maps and villages from the way description on their website. The short cut to Moshi via Mkomazi is an experience. Sharp switchbacks and narrow roads. Keep it slow and you'll do just fine done the steeeeep hills (1700m on a 30km stretch).

This has to be the BEST value addition trip I've ever taken on! Prior to my travels, the owner, Herman - Whatsapped me all the details on how how to get there and even answered all my questions. We took a cottage that costed $60 for me, my best friend & my dog which is super cost effective considering the value you get. A cottage on the cliff, looking over sunrises & sunsets followed by free water, breakfast AND dinner! The staff were super hospitable too! This lodge has got to be THE most sustainbale place I've ever come across. From solar lighting on the walkpaths, rooms, bathrooms to making their own cheese! This place develops the village it resides on by giving IT classes, English classes & recreational classes to name a few. Moreover, there are a myriad of photo opportunities which will emmerse you in amazement! Looking East is sunrise & north is Mt. Kilimanjaro! How cool is that? In the morning the clouds are beneath you and in the afternoon the clouds have risen up to you. You are now IN the clouds! Take your diary & go contemplate! They also let me use their laptop to transfer my media to a hard drive which was pretty kind of them. They had NO issue with my german shepard & even provided meals for him. This place deserves the highest award! If you don't enjoy its hospitality then you need to seriously check your self! I'll DEF be back! Bedankt :)
