The place once really was a paradise...as the Swahili name "Peponi" says. I knew and loved this resort in the condition it was in when Dennis was running it back in 2006 and 2008 when I spent wonderful days here. Now during my last visit in beginning of June it was really in a poor condition. Lots of things have to be improved/replaced but the new owner is not at the place and the local manager doesn't seem to care. I paid 55$/night for a mid class accommodation, no hot water, pool was just repaired but refilled without cleaning it, furniture at the beach was broken... Be aware that the video shown on the website does no longer match with what expects you in this resort. We were really disappointed. The staff in the resort is trying their best and doing a good job...that's why I didn't rate just 1 star. Please make this resort a Peponi again. It is worth to come back to its...
Read moreReading some of the recent reviews I was quite scared and almost decided not to visit Peponi Beach. It turned out to be the contrary and I'm so happy that I despite the odds went there. I spent around 10 days at a breathtaking place with lovely stuff, tasty food, very nice activities and a lot of tranquility. It might be right that the place has lost some of its glitter, the stuff does everything to successfully compensate this though. Of course it wouldn't be a miss having some of the facilities renewed.. if you're looking for luxury, you should choose for something else.. but if you're looking for very enriching encounters, long and quite beach walks, funny activities, friendly stuff, hot showers, clean washrooms, a well- maintained and animal rich enviroment making it a paradise-like place for sheltered or non- sheltered camping, this is the...
Read moreThe experience in Peponi Beach resort was very nice. We were there in July - the lodge is right on the beach. We accessed via public transport from Tanga (easy to find a minibus from there). The staff is very velcoming and we slept very well in the tents. The bathrooms are very clean and wi-fi is working ok in the comon areas. The swimming pool is nice. The restaurant serves food which is ok and they do not have selfcatering facilities. We paid by credit card and left in the morning early with one of their taxis. I would not recommand though to take the boat they recommend to go from Pangani to Zanzibar directly : the boat was not in good state, we think it was dangerous to take this trip for 4 hours on this boat and it was expensive (160 us $ for 1 bad boat). I highlyrecommend to spend a few nights in this...
