We booked two Superior Double rooms at Golden Palm Boutique Zanzibar for the weekend of September 26-28, 2025. To our utmost horror and disappointment, upon arriving at the hotel, we were told that one of our rooms were not available, so we will have to be taken to another hotel.|We did not understand why that happened as we booked ahead of time and they knew we were coming. So, we tried to argue our case to be given both rooms to no avail. Simon, the desk receptionist who was that evening was not helpful, and the manager refused to speak with us.|As we were tired and we really wanted to rest, we reluctantly agreed to go to the alternative hotel and it was nowhere near the experience we paid for as you will see in the photos.|Next day, when we returned to Golden Palm Boutique Zanzibar, very early, to get our rooms, we met the rude manager Cecilia, who refused to speak to us the previous night, and we understood why. She was very rude in person, and wanted to refuse to give us room the second day. With impunity she even said to us that even if we report the hotel to the tourism authorities in Zanzibar, we will not win. Looks like this is what they do many times and they know how to deal with the Tourism authorities. |Looks like our room was sold to the highest bidder, even though we had a booking but they did not feel under any obligation to honor our reservation and we ended up in a very inferior facility, at the same price we paid for their services.|We would not recommend this hotel to anyone as they may end up selling your room, without refunding you and send you to their nearby very poor quality sister lodges or...
Read moreDuring my recent visit to Zanzibar, I had the pleasure of staying at Golden Palm Boutique hotel that left a lasting impression on me. This hotel was not only spacious but also conveniently located at the beach front and just a stone's throw away from the airport.
The rooms at the hotel were clean, comfortable and very spacious, with large windows that let in a lot of natural light. I particularly enjoyed waking up in the morning to the breathtaking views of the ocean just outside my window.
The hotel also had a number of amenities to keep guests entertained, including an outdoor pool, a kitchen and a nearby beach I also enjoyed spending time at the beach and the sea ,which was just a few steps away from the hotel.
The staff at the hotel were incredibly friendly and attentive, making me feel welcome from the moment I arrived. They were always ready to offer suggestions on things to do in the area and help with any requests I had.
Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable and relaxing stay in Zanzibar. The spacious rooms, beachfront location, and proximity to the airport make it an ideal choice for travelers. I would definitely stay here again on my next visit to this...
Read moreThe Hotel is near the airport in an upscale area of Zanzibar. The road to the hotel is rough and you have to drive through the mangrove trees. The hotel looks better in the photos than in real life and there is no viable beach front. The hotel is tucked in a corner at the end of the rough road and has no viable parking for guests. There is a small 2 car parking. Parking there is a challenge. The security at the hotel is good and the front office is pretty friendly as well as the managers. Their Chef though is a disaster and the food at this hotel is of very low quality. The chef could not hack making sauteed mushrooms and over salted them to boot. The Breakfast is Mundane and even the omelettes are literally dead. It is a good hotel for the value but we were sold on photos that looked way better than the real deal. I am not sure if it is classified but looks more like a mom and pop operation boutique hotel. There was really not much of a view to write home about. The bed was comfortable and the showers had fresh water which made up for the lucklusture food. If you stay here just be content...
