The positives first.||The pool is amazing and staff keep it super clean (not easy as it is right on the beach)||Staff were great||||The not so positive...we left a night early after having our suspicions confirmed that the lodge was actively being used for sex tourism. This was for us not acceptable on our holiday where we wanted to relax and chill, not watch middle aged European women getting friendly with local guys. It was unfortunately very overt and obvious. ||||We have subsequently done research and sex tourism is a thing on the East coast of Zanzibar. No judgment just important to let people know so you can make a decision about where you want to stay.||||Think that with a lodge so close to the beach better security may be needed to dissuade groups of men hanging around looking for business.||||In terms of the lodge it was little run down, not bad but rustic rather than luxury. Two local restaurants do great local food and seafood/veggie options at local prices. Lodge itself charges a lot and is the first place in 6 weeks in Africa that has not had free...
Read moreI could put a single star, but the place is nice and clean, employ them kind and helpful, only I advise you not to leave a review that does not please the boss, we have been insulting and threatening phisically and getting kicked out of the establishment after our 2nd direct booking, the equipment does not work too much, fridge, air conditioning, electricity, seawater shower, no fresh water, the food does not speak about it, we have ordered 2 hamburgers the bread was all hard and green, moldy in fact, the breakfast the fruit juice Cut in the water, but if you ask for juice without water, you will be answered no, mosquito net on the bed to be drilled, so not used for nothing, I had only specified that the equipment was to be renovated but after the threats against us I detail a little, our 1st reservation was on booking at a certain price, for the 2nd reservation it asks us a higher rate than the booking amount and told us the tourist tax was free, al ors which had increased the bill .... But we made the price displayed on booking...
Read moreI loved Kaure Sand Beach Lodge. It's super chill. You can walk around in nothing but swimsuit and flip flops all day, or even barefoot if you feel like it. I enjoyed it so much I stayed an extra day. Not only is it right on the beach but it has a big, beautiful, beachside pool tool. The rooms were clean and well supplied with soap, shampoo, etc. The grounds are ahmazing. Lush trees and plants, scenic paintings, plenty of relaxing chairs around to rest. It's in a great location. Breakfast is included in your stay. You can have dinner there too but the menu is limited. But if you want to visit the shops and places to eat that are a few steps away, you can do that too. You can wander for miles on the beach. Maasai stroll by and wave hello. Great staff that accommodated my every need. I traveled alone and felt safe and secure. I can't say enough good things about this place. Oh and it has WiFi. :-)...
