Kena Beach Villas — Hotel in Unguja

This place is an hours drive from zanzibar port/airport. Spot on location. stunning view. all the bedrooms were clean and cosy. very peaceful location though your a little far from stonetown which happens to be the hotspot in zanzibar but hardly matters . excellent cleaning by the staff, cordial staff especially kombo who was our staff in charge.easy access to the beach. food prepared by the chef was pretty decent . Just a few suggestions from me to the owner would be firstly, the food prepared should be covered and not left in the open since there were ants cos of the hot weather though they immediately sprayed and made sure there are no problems. secondly, would be great if they install an ac/pedestal fans in the living room cos it was unbearably hot and was difficult to chill in that place. just thought would put this across. rest everything seemed perfect. definately worth a...

This should be a no-brainer 5-star review - the house was amazing, the property ground were beautiful and the location right on the beach was magnificent. However, there were definitely some issues, the most concerning of which was the staff not wearing masks when they came in the house each day to clean. THIS SIMPLY IS NOT ACCEPTABLE DURING A PANDEMIC.

UPDATE: Based on my wife's feedback to the owner, and the generally positive response/ action, I have edited this review and added another star to the rating. I truly wish I could rate this property higher, but I cannot excuse the staff's blatant disregard for our safety. Our group of 6 lovely ladies had an amazing birthday celebration at Kena Villas. It was the perfect spot for a private celebration. The villa we stayed at was spacious with a lovely open feeling, with beautiful decor by local artisans. The gardens are large and immaculate and were perfect for Insta photos! Abd then there was the pool, where we spent most of the time. It was well maintained, sparkly clean and refreshing. The staff were super helpful and attentive - and always on hand to help out.
