We stayed here for 6 nights and it did not disappoint. From the moment we arrived we knew were in for treat. Hannes was waiting for us with a friendly smile then showed us around the villa and introduced us to Haji who would be looking after us during our stay.
The villa is set in wonderful surroundings with a swimming pool and sandy garden leading onto the beach overlooked by palm and coconut trees. The outdoor area was fantastic with various places to sit and relax, and lovely covered dining area where we spent every night having dinner whilst watching the amazing sunset over the Indian Ocean!
The accommodation was great, tastefully decorated with comfy beds complete with mosquito nets and ceiling fan which was ample to keep you cool at night.
The food was delicious with a different menu for each day of our stay. There was always something on the menu for every taste. We had a BBQ on one of the nights which was one of the best BBQs I've ever had.. Lots of fish/various meats and side dishes, I would highly recommend the BBQ! There was a decent drinks card with beer, spirits, wine and cocktails.
Haji was a complete star and a credit to Milele Villas, looking after our every whim, always greeting us with a friendly smile. He also helped us book excursions to Jozani Forest to see the Red Colobuse monkeys, Stone Town and Masai Village.
The beach has a small sandy strip which leads onto rock/ancient coral, it is possible to swim here during high tide, swimming shoes would be advisable. The is also a small pier where you can sit on the end of whilst having a romantic dinner under the spectacular night sky!
One of the highlights of our stay was to hire a Dhow (traditional sailing boat) for a day complete with crew. We were picked up from the pier in front of the villas and then headed off across the Ocean to snorkel and was joined by our chef who cooked our BBQ lunch whilst under sail which was simply divine, We also stopped off on a sandbank in the middle of the ocean where we had a swim and paddle, followed by a trip to Kendwa beach then returning to Milele under sail whilst watch the magnificent sunset
This is place is secluded with no shops or restaurants nearby, you would have to book a taxi or have your own transport to visit anywhere. We did not find this a problem!
Would I stay here again? Most definitely I would!
Thank you Hannes and the team for making this holiday feel special and one to remember for myself and...
Read moreMilele is a collection of two villas and a few cottages. We stayed in villa Lisa - a 4 bedroom, rustic, eco villa.
It was insanely beautiful, I don't have the words to describe it.
Downstairs houses 3 en suite bedrooms, two with queen beds, the middle bedroom with two doubles and a beautiful crib. All beds protected by insect nets which the housekeepers drew every evening and tied away every morning. All bedrooms downstairs also had at least one chaise-longue.
Upstairs was one large open plan living space with a terrace and another flight of stairs up to a sundeck. There aren't any walls upstairs, it's completely open to the weather (obviously it has a roof) and wildlife... We had monkeys in several times in the night.
The villa does not have air conditioning, but has ceiling fans in every room. The hot water supply was also a little temperamental.
The villa manager, Haji, was a brilliant man at the end of a WhatsApp message and he arranged a few excursions for us along with taxis etc at very reasonable prices. Our package came with use of a car but the larger one was broken down at the time, so we just paid 20usd plus fuel for a driver and vehicle for each whole day we wanted.
The butler, Salim, was also at the end of a WhatsApp message and catered to our every need. Arranging dinner times, menu choices, breakfast, drinks, ice creams and snacks. He is a local man so was able to give us some great recommendations, he sent us to a specific spice farm, walked us to the ruins and gave other advice fit for second week of our trip. A really lovely chap.
There are massage services offered at the villa and included in our package, which were both thorough and relaxing. All completed outside, in the gardens. Very serene.
This is a beachfront property with access straight onto a public beach and jetty. There are lots of local children that play on the beach and fish in the sea, they often asked for money but were all very friendly and there wasn't ever any ill feeling it discontent. The beach isn't very sandy, mainly coral, so we never saw anyone using it to sunbathe.
The property is well protected by Masai warriors.
The beds were comfortable, the furniture was all reclaimed/repurposed... Bookshelves made from old boats etc. All such charming features, along with the traditional building methods used, the thatched roof, it...
Read moreEverything amazing. Even before our arrival, Hans was always ready to answer our questions or our needs. And then once we were there, every thing was perfect. Hans and our private waiters Juma, are always there, with out you noticing them or bothering you, but always that you need anything they are there for you, to help your dreams of a perfect honeymoon come true. The staff are amazing, polite nice, punctual, everything. And the place a perfect chill spot only a few minutes drive from the noisy crowded areas of Nundwy or Kendwa. I highly recommend to ask for a boat day trip, to do some snorkel and eat fresh fish on a bbq in the middle of the ocean with amazing beach views. We rely love our time there and If any time of my life I go back to Zanzibar I for sure will go there. BTW, the food there is amazing good, always a different option, fresh cooked for you and with...
