This is my third time attending a retreat at Horizon Village, and I absolutely love it—every time! Not only is the learning experience enriching, but the environment and service provided by Horizon are simply wonderful.

The hotel offers a variety of room types to suit different budgets and preferences. All of my classmates were happy with the rooms they chose, which speaks volumes about the overall quality and options available.

The grounds are expansive and beautiful, featuring multiple swimming pools, serene lakes, a mini zoo, a botanical garden, and a herb garden. It’s so large that I’ve only managed to explore about half of it! Thankfully, golf carts are available on call if you need a ride. Surrounded by trees, birds, plants, and butterflies, the entire atmosphere feels peaceful and rejuvenating—truly a retreat into nature. Given the scale of the property and the range of facilities, I believe Horizon Village is one of the best-managed hotels in Thailand.

What makes it even more special is that it’s not only ideal for retreats and meetings, but also a lovely place to bring kids.

The daily buffet we enjoyed was delicious and of high quality. The vegetables were organically grown right on their farm, which adds to the charm and freshness of every meal.

Our retreat lasted eight days, and there wasn’t a single unpleasant moment I can recall. I’m full of appreciation for the management and their lovely staff. I truly enjoyed every bit...

Variety of rooms to suit different budgets.

Good:

Scenic and quiet resort with a lot of land for walking. Those who like lotus ponds will also find some here. Also many birds, so the morning sounds lovely if you enjoy nature.

It's also not very far from the airport, I managed to get there within 25 minutes on a day without traffic.

Many friendly and cute cats at the reception, receptive of pats and attention.

Issues:

The resort had some difficulties with leaking airconditioning (changed rooms twice) and regular interruptions to electricity supply. However, staff were mostly accommodating and tried to help.

I had some issues with language barriers in sorting out rooms, deliveries, and hotel transfer to the airport as not all reception staff can speak English (but also will nod along and not make it known that requests were not understood).

Signage is scarce in this sprawling resort, and depending on your room, it can take a ten minute walk to get from one building to another. As I visited during a heatwave, this was not ideal. Buggy services are available for those patient enough to wait.

The resort is also fairly far away from most tourist attractions. Having taxi services through Grab helps, but many drivers cancelled once they realised how isolated...

There were so many disappointments at the Horizon Village I am not sure where to begin. However, the gardens are spectacular and at pools nice - but one does not sleep in the gardens! There was a comment card in the room directed to the GM of the resort that I filled out with my phone number and email and received no reply after 2 weeks! Issues: 1. No black out curtains 2. The road outside the room is very noisy with motorcycles and trucks using it - all staff should be using non-motorized vehicles. 3. The air conditioners are old style, not inverter type so noisy with the compressors attached directly to the wall with no rubber in between so the wall vibrates. 4. I do not think the filters in the air conditioner were ever cleaned - they were full of dust and disgusting - I cleaned them. 5. The restaurant was very disappointing with no vegetarian food - even the stir-fried veggies are cooked in oyster sauce, and they were not willing to change this. I have attached a copy of the menu showing the supposed vegetarian food and one can see that it tall contains one form of meat or seafood. The staff in the restaurant kept opening the doors and letting mosquitos in.

A huge resort engulfed in gardens. Location is outside of Chiang Mai at a major road into town. It's a pain to get around without transportation. The resort provides most needs, for a price. Rooms are all designed in different styles. Some very minimalist, some rustic Asian, but all rooms have some design elements that improve the visual experience. Rooms are mostly clean and have a decent size. Good spaces to put things. The beds are hard, mattresses quite old the springs are to be felt. Not good for people who like to sink in the mattress or sleep on the side. Bathroom is supplied with a large array of amenities that rival 5 star hotels. Very good hot water just the fixed mounted shower heads are quite old and the pressure is not great. Showers get the job done but could use some improvement. Service is mostly ok up to good but can still be improved, especially thinking out of the box send to be hard. Anything that is not routine seems to be impossible at first. Overall a solid resort in spectacular surroundings with great single features that could play in 5* league with better management and attention to detail. Recommend for a stay.
