I want to start with the positive, Nam in the restaurant and reception was excellent and was the only staff member who I met that was professional, knew what they were doing and understood customer service.
Also on our first morning I woke with a migraine and they brought our breakfast to us and also some Paracetamol too which was excellent.
Now the negatives
As soon as you arrive they want to know your breakfast and dinner orders. We found it weird at first until we found out how slow they were if you just went to the restaurant and ordered.
We went one night and wanted to order the grill. They had a beef set and a pork set. However on the next page they had a la carte where all the items were listed individually.
As we had eaten a lot of pork, plus my fiancé does not eat beef, we wanted to order a mix of pork, beef and chicken as well as the vegetables to go with it. However you are not allowed to do that and must order a set then order items on top. Well that would have meant a ridiculous amount of meat for 2 people. Eventually they agreed to do a mix set for the price of the beef set. However upon ordering (in Thai) we asked for just the sliced pork loin not the pork belly. After that we waited 1 hour and 15 minutes, and don’t forget they are not cooking anything, you cook it yourself on the grill at the table so I have no idea why it took that long
Eventually they bring out a nice looking set of beef and chicken but with a massive still frozen pork chop on top? I mean what? Why? Who is going to grill a frozen pork chop. Luckily Nam just came on shift and sorted it all out!!
Now to the villa itself.
In the pictures it looked fabulous and the pictures are real and I have to remember we went in rainy season so everything looks a bit damp and dirty but it did appear no maintenance has been done to this villa since it opened.
For ฿9k per night I was expecting something extra special however to me it was worth ฿3k to ฿4k maximum.
It’s only suited for 1 or 2 night stays as there is nowhere to unpack your luggage to.
There is a kettle with free mama but no tea or coffee.
The decking on the balcony had flaking paint and rust marks all over it. The jacuzzi was dirty and needed a proper jet wash. You couldn’t turn the balcony lights off (the ones around the balcony rope railing ) so it wasn’t dark when trying to sleep.
There were dirty sheets as a canopy over the bed. I dread to think what they were.
Lastly the bathroom shower is awful. It’s a dirty gas fired system with little water pressure and a short hose that literally goes under your arm while you shower which is really low too so you have to duck to shower. I would expect better in a $1k per night room.
I think it was compounded by the fact we had just left an excellent home stay in Mae tang which was much more luxurious, bigger, had better views and had in villa breakfast and dinner included for ฿6K per night.
Also note the road up is treacherous during the rainy season. We had a 4WD so we were ok but some small landslides took out the internet for a few days...
Read moreIf you're seeking a mountain retreat, I recommend a brief 2-day, 1-night stay at this resort. However, it's important to note that the amenities are quite limited. The resort's lounge, bar, viewing area, and even the massage chair (which, incidentally, was the dirtiest I've ever encountered—sitting in it is not recommended) are all confined to a compact space. The view from the resort, while not terrible, falls short of expectations and is rather average, lacking the unobstructed beauty often portrayed on social media.
When it comes to food and service, there are some peculiarities. Staff members don't bother placing your food items directly in front of you; instead, they're left in a corner for you to retrieve. This was consistent during my three-night stay. The food options are limited and of average taste, primarily offering mookata or steamboat choices, along with a few standard Thai dishes and minimal Western or international options. Breakfast, comprising only three choices—Khao Soi, Thai Porridge, and Egg Benedicte—requires advance ordering, and the food is served lukewarm, with the steamboat being the warmest option.
The deluxe villa, where I stayed, disappointingly resembles a tent with two queen-size beds and blackout coverings that leave the interior quite dim. The lack of natural light gives the space a somewhat gloomy atmosphere, and it would be an improvement to have small "windows" incorporated into the tent. Despite featuring a jacuzzi option on the patio, the slimy base raises concerns about cleanliness. Situated at the top of the resort, reaching the villa involves navigating steep steps, a challenge compounded by the thin air. The only practical solution is to rely on a buggy for transportation. Communication with hotel staff is solely through WhatsApp, making spontaneous dining impossible as all food orders must be placed a day in advance.
In summary, my stay fell short of expectations, lacking the glamour depicted in social media posts. Improvement is needed in terms of overall cleanliness and service, particularly given the price point of the...
Read moreIf you would like to experience mountains, i would only suggest 2 days 1 night stay. There is barely any amenities within the resort. Their lounge, bar, viewing area, massage chair (dirtiest i've ever seen, bet you wouldnt want to sit in it) are all within a very small compound. I can't say this resort has the best view, it's fairly mediocre. It could have been a less obstructed view, nothing like you have seen on instagram. As for food and service, oddly, none of the staff bothers to place your food items in front of you. They would just placed at a corner and you would have to reach out for it to place it in front of you. This is consistent for the 3 nights which I've stayed there. The food options are very limited and average tasting, mostly mookata or steamboat options and some regular thai dishes and very limited western or international options. The breakfast options comprises of only 3 options, Khao Soi, Thai Porridge and Egg Benedicte, all meals options would have to be order a day in advance. And the food were served luke warm. The hottest food option would be steamboat. The room which I was in was a deluxe villa, sadly, it's just a tent with 2 queen size bed and a black out tent, there is barely any day light that could be let into the tent. Just gives a depressing vibe, would appreciate if there could be pockets of 'windows' options in the tent. It has a jacuzzi option on the patio, but when you stepped in it, it's slimy at the base of the jaccuzi, makes me wonder how clean it is. It is also situated at the top part of the resort, which made climbing up the steep steps very challenging as well as with the very thin air. The only option is to get the buggy to drive you up and down.Communications with the hotel staff is purely through whatsapp. So orders for food have to be input the day before... so no spontaneous dining for you.Overall, this stay fell below my expectations, as nothing was as glam as how the pictures on instagram or tiktok look like. Definitely, can be improved in terms of overall cleanliness and service. Definitely not worth the price you...
