Read moreLoved the atmosphere, the setting, and all the animals. However, the food and service was terribly disappointing. So much so that it soured the entire experience. The presentation - apparently as a walk-in customer, all our food was served in disposable plating and plastic cups. My airplane meal looks better. The quality - Thin and dry salmon slab on a layer of compressed rice. The mackerel fish wasn't too bad to be honest but worst of all is the miso soup (served in a paper cup), a simple menu item that can be made in minutes. The miso paste is still solid. It's like the chef just scooped a wad of miso, threw it into the cup, and poured in some lukewarm water. Didn't even bother to stir it properly. The portions are tiny. Again, comparable to an airplane meal. The disparity of service - homestay guests were treated with properly presented food in actual plate. Soup came in proper bowls and also with actual utensils instead of the plastic ones. (Heck my emirates airplane meal came with stainless steel cutlery) I'd say this is the worse part of the whole experience. The fact that they could've done a proper job but didn't even when we paid the full price. The price - Factor in all the above to an above average price makes this place completely unrecommendable. If the food and presentation was halfway decent, the price could've been excused to the great atmosphere and setting. But even that was not okay.
As a "farm" that should be environmentally conscious of certain local renown, using all these disposable utensils is baffling. After confronting the restaurant about this, their reason is because of "covid". They don't want to cross contaminate outside guests' dishes with their homestay guests' ones which logically does not make sense at all. If that was the case, they could've checked for our vaccination status or test results. I wonder if all their homestay guests needed to undergo covid tests prior to their stay. When we ordered the staff did not inform customers at all that the food presentation is different for walk-ins when I think this simple act can help manage expectations. Overall, pretty disappointed. Not recommended for anything aside from the scenery and the fake japanese-ness. Come if you want to take photos but don't expect anything from the food and beverages. Or rather, don't come...
Read moreWe stayed one overnight at Mori Natural Farm on Feb.07, 2019.
Cottage garden is where we checked in this time. It's a western style cottage and it's one of the three cottages that Mori Natural Farm offers to you for your stay. The other two, Thai and Japanese style cottages are also very attractive to stay in.
The owner, Mr.Po is from the South of Thailand and his wife from Bangkok. They grow veggies and fruits by natural farming in this mountainous area.
Mr.Po is also an architect and he built all three cottages in this farm naturally by himself.
Our cottage garden is quite well designed and very comfortable to live in. It's clean and neat everywhere in the unit. Outdoor bath space makes you feel as if you are really in the nature especially when you are under the millions of stars in the night.
It's very refreshing early in the morning. You will sure be very happy when you find nicely arranged breakfast on the table by the farm owner. They pick up fresh veggies from his field for your breakfast every morning.
All in all, this is really the place worth for your stay even if it’s located in a remote mountain...
