I stayed at the Rainbow from May 1 to May 8, 2025. The staff were mostly friendly, but there were some problems. First, I was required to pay on arrival. When I checked in, I asked for a receipt of my payment, but I didn't get one. I ended up taking a photo of my booking in the registration book. Booking.com, who I booked through didn't get notice that I had checked in. Rainbow hotel had not informed them. I also asked if I could rent a bike, they said yes, but forgot about it . I told them the day before check out I'm going to another hotel in Kamphaeng phet, and asked them to book a taxi. They got a taxi for me, but didn't tell him I was going to a hotel, he thought I was going to the bus station. When I noticed him going the wrong way, I told him we're going to the Soda hotel. He changed the price from 100Baht to 150Baht. I got out of the taxi and walked back to the Rainbow. The Rainbow helped me here, they gave me a life to the...

Having said that though, it's great value for money. We reserved through Booking.com, paid 550 baht to spend one night, and were generally satisfied. Rooms are clean, the bathroom has everything you might need (the water heater is old, but works fine). It's in a quiet neighborhood, and the staff are nice. The place could use some TLC and upgrades, but the people running it are doing what they can to make it work.
One minor niggle that may need looking into, at least from a foreigner's perspective: the beds and pillows are very hard, so I had some difficulty falling asleep.
Overall, I'd recommend it to budget-conscious travellers, or to those who need a quick one-night stop-over on their way to...
Read moreGot this stay at this property for a great discount offered by Agoda. Though I reached by around 12 am in the night riding my motorbike from Bangkok, the receptionist was pleasing to welcome me and showed me the Guest House for me. It was a good place, slightly old with a hard bed but the Air-conditioner worked great, so did the heater shower to give me comfort. I slept well for the night and departed for my onward journey to Chiang Mai. The house keeping person was so well mannered and warm, she helped me with the checkout and wished me a safe journey ahead! Overall, it was a good budget accommodation for...
