Although advertised as a hotel it is in fact a range of well designed villas set among lovely gardens, with many surrounding a large pond, in a quiet location. There is road access to all villas with each having its own parking bay alongside. Prices vary according to the type of villa you choose. The smaller (and original) ones are inexpensive and the newer, much larger ones are less than £20 (English) per night including a choice of breakfast with cooked food. I stayed in one of the larger villas and what a surprise I got when I entered. Almost all the furniture and fittings are made of wood and are very attractive. The soft furnishings are also very attractive. There is a large en-suite shower and toilet room. Colour TV, tea and coffee facilities, hair dryer and a refrigerator are provided. The villa complex is about 1km south of Chum Phae on the secondary road to Chum Phae. Road signs on the main 2038 road between Khon Khaen and Nongbualamphu indicate its location. There are several restaurants nearby including "Mister Joe's" (my favorite) a 5 minute walk back towards Chum Phae. There is an ex-pat bar next door ("Number One ") which offers a choice of western food and drinks. It has a pool table. I highly recommend the "hotel" and it is a great base to visit many of the tourist attractions in this part of Thailand's Issan Region including the Dinosaur Museum and National Park near Phu Wiang and Ubolratana with its dam and hydroelectricity complex forming a vast lake with splendid views. It also has a popular...
Read moreI really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. At only 700BHT per night for a deluxe room it was an absolute bargain. Each room is an individual hut or bungalow so there was no problem with noisy neighbours and the room we stayed in was brand new as they are currently expanding. Thai build quality is never the best so we had a leaky toilet, but everything else in the room was of a good quality, certainly better than I expected for the price, and the décor in the room was very pleasant. ||We booked through their website and sent several emails back and forth. Some of the English in the correspondence was....odd to say the least, suggesting that they were using Google translate but I applaud them for their effort. Not many Thai establishments would bother answering an email let alone doing it in English. You may or may not find someone who speaks English when you arrive, so ask any questions you have by email before arriving, for example breakfast times. ||Local restaurants we tried where English was spoken were No. 1 Farang Pub more or less next door to the hotel's entrance (with a very friendly owner who is a mine of useful information) and Viang Thong Thai restaurant about 300m up the road, on a road junction opposite a Korean BBQ restaurant.||The hotel is a great base from which to visit the Dinosaur Museum and Phu Wiang National Park and I would stay there again if we were...
Read moreI stayed, with my family, at Pruksa over the new year of 2014/2015. The manager and staff make you feel more than welcome. If you can get a room overlooking the water as we did, my small daughter had lots of enjoyment feeding the fish. Although Pruksa is located away from the main area of Phu Wiang, there are restaurants within easy walking distance, even directly across the road. There is also a shop adjacent to the Pruksa that sells almost all your needs. There is also a bar that deals mainly with visiting foreigners. Breakfast at Pruska is good and always served with a smile.Reception is staffed 24 hours. I highly recommend the Pruksa to anyone viviting the...
