After reading many of the reviews for this hotel I was very skeptical about staying here given the chatter about ants, bamboo bugs and mosquitoes. The property is located in what seems to be the middle of a rice field so a few insects are to be expected.||||Upon first entry into the room, I was pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness and relative modernity. I looked closely for any insects, particularly ants, and couldn't find any. By morning, I had only seen a few beetles and a grasshopper but that is all. Perhaps I just got lucky with this particular room (I think room #9) otherwise it seems that the bug problem is under control or over exaggerated.||||I had room service and the food is decent including chicken fried rice, fried chicken, mixed vegetables and fries. Although the power was out for around thirty minutes, the air conditioner worked well and the shower had plenty of hot water. You can get wifi in the room but the signal is rather weak.||||My only complaint was the breakfast. There is no choice as they simply bring you a plate with one egg, two slices of toast, and a sausage/weiner. The coffee was instant and the tea seemed stale. Improvements need to be made here.||||I booked the hotel reluctantly as there isn't much choice in this area but I was impressed enough with this property to...
Read moreI stayed at the Herntai Resort for one night on a school trip. First impressions of the facility were pleasant: the building at the front of the complex is a beautiful, wooden Thai-style structure with a balcony that overlooks some of the surrounding area. The eating area was pleasant, with options for inside and outside dining. To get around the complex to the various bungalows that span the property, there's a winding network of raised, wooden walkways which are nice to explore on a late-day walk (especially when the sun is beginning to set on the nearby fields of crop). The room I stayed in was small and simple but very romantic (with an amazing view). This resort also has bicycles which guests can use at their leisure to ride to and from the village a few minutes up the road. All that being said, the most delightful aspect of this resort was it's staff who always made sure we were comfortable and happy. Chaperoning 70 students can be hard, but the Herntai Resort staff made it so much easier by ensuring that anything and everything we needed was provided. 10/10 would (and will) go back here in the...
Read moreI understand both the good and bad reviews of this place. Herntai Resort offers a rustic escape from the busy city life. I understand the concept but my basic gripe with his place is that it's a bit run down and messy outside. So many things can be cleaned up - for example, trash and beer bottles around the common lounge area. Unused and outdated equipment throughout the premises... for example the universal gym which is old and cannot be used. The breakfast consists of a simple rice porridge with some bread. The room itself is modern, clean, and decent with an interesting view of the fields. Our challenges were was mainly with the aircon which wasn't working too well and was too warm most of the time. What I liked most about the experience were the free bicycles we could take and ride in the local village to experience the culture. Overall, I give this place a pass but doubt I...
