Kong Garden Resort ก้องการ์เด้นรีสอร์ท เขาใหญ่ — Hotel in Nakhon Ratchasima Province

For 700THBT/$25AUD including breakfast, who can complain when staying in resort style accommodation. No pool that we could see see unless you were game to swim in large dam that Resturant sits over. Lovely walk around grounds. Staff seem only too willing to help but their lack of understanding English can be difficult. Van can take you the 15-20mins to town. ||We were luck enough (some might say not) to be inside when a big storm came across, bring small hail, wind & some badly needed rain for about 30 mins. Power was only lost for about an hour. Unfortunately rain had come inside rooms, reception areas, staff were all busy cleaning up as soon as they could. ||Haven't sampled the breakfast yet, but sure it will be adequate considering the cost we have paid. Told this is low season so good prices. Would pay up to 2000THBT & think it would still be good deal.||Also have reasonable priced day spa.||No problems with our room or wifi, had it going whole time apart from during blackout. Our dividing wall in bathroom was a high wall. Lacks in some of the provided amenities eg no soap. TV not very good, but who wants to watch TV when on holidays. ||We find Thais have lots of smaller meals with lots of salads/veges/rice etc so we adapt to their way of eating when in their country, after all that's what you go to another country for is to experience their culture. ||Went to night markets & pretty much had a 3 course meal with alcoholic beverages for around $11AUD, pretty darn good in our book. Have eaten at all class of Resturants/street vendors in Thailand & found some of the best food...

Overall, my wife and I enjoyed our stay here (albeit for only one night) The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was large and spotlessly clean with a nice balcony overlooking the lovely gardens. And there is plenty to do in the surrounding area but you certainly need transportation.||||The minus points. ||||Wi-fi didn't work at all for the entire 24 hours we were there - neither in the rooms nor in the public areas (something to do with the heavy rainfall the owner said - but we never saw a drop of the stuff) I was a little annoyed because "do you have wi-fi" was the first question I asked. I now realise that "is it working at the moment?" should have been my second question.||||The breakfast was poor but it's generally what you come to expect in Thailand at these resort places - instant coffee, powdered milk, loads of salad (who on earth wants to start their day with half a plateful of lettuce?) a fried egg and a skinless Thai sausage. No cereals. ||||And for the first time ever, in all my travel experience, the mini-fridge wasn't plugged in. So in the morning, our complimentary water was still warm. There was also a fancy stone hand-gel dispenser with no hand-gel in it (why?) and there was about a quarter roll of toilet paper when we first used the toilet. All of these in my opinion show a lack of attention to detail. ||||The toilet and the shower in our room were seperate but the design was a little wierd. There is just a low dividing wall so the person taking a shower does not have 'complete privacy' from the person sitting...

Kong Garden is a delightful little resort, with various cabins or chalets -in varying styles around immaculate gardens on a hill-side- serving as accomodation. I stayed in a very comfortable en-suite room of a 2-room chalet, with good air-con and also wi-fi. Only the lack of hand soap was an ommission, but the shower gel sufficed.The staff was very helpful, so I'm sure they would have provided some had I asked. The gardens are pretty and peaceful, allowing for a relaxed environment away from BKK. The dining was in a larger building at the bottom of the hill, with with delicious local cuisine for lunch and a hearty western-style breakfast. The resort seems well-connected to local activities like cycling and ATV trips and offer cycles itself. The trendy and rapidly-expanding Khao Yai area offers many restaurants, activities and even some vinyards, so there is some occasional road-noise at the bottom of the resort near the restaurant. It is very good value in a surprisingly pricey area and I recommend it to anyone...
