Khanom is off the beaten track, perfect for ppl who want to relax, take long walks on the beach and enjoy a place which is not touristy at all. The hotel is great, only draw back when I was there they had lost their chef and food was underwhelming. On the plus side, they have an amazing massage therapist. |||Location: Khanom is still what some places Thailand were probably like 30 years ago. Long deserted stretch of beach with some hotels/restaurants. Unfortunately no tuktuks available, making coming/going a bit tricky. I would consider renting a car. The hotel has free bikes which I used. I took from Nakhon Si Thammarat a local bus to Khanom and to Surat Thani I booked car (12Aisa). Transport offered by the hotel is much more expensive. ||Rooms: simply fabulous. Exactly like on the pictures, extremely spacious and very well appointed. Air con works perfectly. The whole resort is very well cared for and beautiful.||Breakfast/Dinner: Breakfast served on the terrasse was beautiful, food was ok. Dinner menu was not to be recommended. Apparently they had just lost their chef. This was disappointing. As there are no tuktuks and not many restaurants super close, one ended often up eating there. This is my biggest criticism. ||Pool/Spa: Beautiful pool with plenty of space to relax. The spa has an amazing therapist (Bow). I would say what she does goes beyond a mere massage, she is very good and if you have back problems she is perfect as I would rate her almost as highly as a physiotherapist. She is definitely one of the highlights...
Read moreWe found this resort disappointing. For the price the breakfast was basic, little choice, cheap sliced bread and orange juice, shout out though to the staff who fried eggs at breakfast in the back corner, that looked hot work. Buffet breakfast compared to other hotels we stayed in was just not good due to that lack of variety. The staff in restaurant was good and friendly, food was mediocre and we found expensive. The rooms are a nice design but the drains in the bathroom of ours smelled very bad and this is something we never encountered in other places we stayed at, shame as the large trendy bath looked inviting but we didn’t want to spend longer in bathroom than necessary. I think it’s a general problem at least in the room we had as there was an essential oil burner presumably to try to cover smell. The pool is small for size of resort and not designed for swimming. We tried to get drink service at pool side but no one attended, our impression was the facility was quite understaffed. If this had been a cheap resort all that would be acceptable, but actually for us we paid standard expensive rate and it didn’t meet our expectations. If you get a cheap deal it’s probably ok as all of this is relative. The position direct on beach is ok but we found a couple of days more than enough. The design of resort is nice and it’s a shame that the other things...
Read moreThis is a beautiful restaurant with a lovely design wood theme, Landscaping is gorgeous. Restaurant overlooks directly onto beach. Indoor and outdoor seating is available. Service staff are very nice, friendly and professional. For a 4.5 star hotel however, it is unfortunate they choose to use kleenex tissue straws at the tables instead of proper napkins, and plastic straws with drinks served instead of paper straws. This is our second time eating here. My Thai wife was not impressed with their Thai food: thought her gengsom was just okay. Same for here geng ki wan. Both meals seemed like they used packaged seasoning. Her geng ki wan was served without the tofu listed in the menu. My beef burger was disappointing: evidently factory made and tasted like it was mixed with soybean filler. The chicken in my Ceasar salad dried out and brownish around the edges and the lettuce was overburdened with dressing. I was going to order the tawt man koong until the waiter informed it too is not prepared in house and is bought frozen. For the relatively high prices charged they need to offer customers better quality food and ingredients. They also need to update their menus because they are looking comical with the many white stickers placed on items they no...
